We are happy to release Anders' and David's new albums into the wider world today. Let them sparkle with mystery and strange light as they head out into the enormous darkness outside.

Thank you to everyone for journeying together with us and all the best for the upcoming new year.

Today we are happy to see the first release of 2022 with two collaborative efforts. On "Bhogavati" three label veterans - Silentwave, Havdis and Indo - help us navigate the mysterious remnants of the Naga Kingdoms that are hidden away in the depths of the world's oceans. On "The Seer" Mathias Grassow and Rüdiger Gleisberg have once again teamed up for a really otherworldly experience. Special thanks from the label for the little froggy bonus adventure at the end. :)

In many ways this has been a long, dark year for many people and we light a candle for those who no longer journey with us.

The two albums can be sampled at:

[gterma060] : Bhogavati (2022-10-07)

In recent years, bewildering artefacts have been recovered from their long slumbers in the depths of the world's oceans. Some in the most unexpected of locations. The initiated speak of conclusive evidence of far-reaching global cultures of Naga Kingdoms but modern science hand-waives it all as wistful dreams originating in folklore.

gterma visits some of these locations and journeys alongside Silentwave, Havdis, Indo and visual artist Sinad Jaruartjanapat in an effort to better understand the relevance of these discoveries. Album in jewelcase with 4-page booklet.

Tracklist:

1. The Kuroshio Fragments (28:18)
2. An Atlantic Connection (21:54)
3. Bhogavati Site A (5:29)
4. Bhogavati Site C (8:17)
5. Bhogavati Site G (8:32)

[gterma065] : Gleisberg & Grassow - The Seer (2022-10-07)

Rüdiger and Mathias walk down a very dimly lit trail into a surreal and unfamiliar dreamworld that exists right inside our very own minds. Mathias draws inspiration for this album from the theories and doctrines of Jiddu Krishnamurti and Edgar Cayce, and the importance of music and sound for our well-being. Album in jewelcase with 4-page booklet.

Tracklist:

1. The Trance (10:55)
2. The Readings (13:11)
3. The Loss and Missing of Loved Ones (11:25)
4. The Legacy of the Sleeping Prophet (30:27)

5. Echoes from the Dream Realm (11:40)

Perhaps you saw Mathias releasing Isola last Friday. We have now received the Compact Discs from the factory and will begin distribution shortly.

The gterma Discogs shop is currently offline because of the EU VAT debacle over there but shoot me a message if you would like to order, copies will of course find their way to Mathias and Databloem as well.

[gterma047] : Mathias Grassow - The Darklight Quest

...and just because it is so fun to release an album, why don't we do another one? Something suitable for listening in the small hours a summernight.

[gterma047] : Mathias Grassow - The Darklight Quest (2016-07-22)

One of the strangest and most fascinating aspects of ambient music is the way it can sometimes morph from sonic wallpaper -where it basically functions as a soundtrack- into an agent of transformation, allowing the reshaping of the perceived world around the listener. Some of Mathias' albums have had this effect on me before, and the Darklight Quest definitely falls into this territory. gterma is happy to shine a light on this now mostly forgotten treasure, originally released as a DIY CDr in 1998.

Tracklist:

1. Prelude (5:09)
2. The Abyss (33:23)
3. Unseen Worlds (29:25)
4. Beyond Nothingness (9:21)

[gterma049] : Sergey Gabbasov & SiJ - Perseides

Eventually all the stars aligned and after having been stranded in the Central Asian backwaters for a small eternity the album is now finally here. Welcome home. : )

Welcome along on another trip into the forgotten hinterlands of the Eurasian plateau. Sergey and Vladimir once again skillfully guide us through the dusty backwater trails of the Mongol steppe, along

Kerang kapa doga?

Kerang kapa doga? A short music video by Elena Erkina and Sergey Gabbasov about their ethnographical expedition to India, Nepal and Pamir (Tadjikistan) in February-May 2016. The music comes, fittingly, from the album "Zhang-Zhung", which Sergey recorded together with SiJ.

Elena and Sergey also plan to release a short film about the high-altitude mountain Kyrgyz nomads on vimeo come the end of June.

"Kerang kapa doga?" means in Tibetan "where are you going?" It is a more typical and traditional greeting than "Tashi deley, which is used only at New Years'...

Continuing on yesterday's topic; Mathias and Closing the Eternity also have a new collaboration getting ready for release, It will be available on cassette or via Bandcamp.

Spring birds are bringing new tunes on their wings! In anticipation for the Vernal Equinox we are glad to present you our first tape release of this year! Each edition we release is special and this one was really long-awaited. This collaboration of two well-known masters of ambient music – Mathias Grassow from Germany and Closing The Eternity from Russia – is dedicated to chthonic depths of Ural mountains, its ancient myths and legends and inspired by "The Malachite Box" cycle of fairy tales by Pavel Bazhov.

With underworld aesthetics of this album and the stories from Bazhov's book in mind, we decided to continue this theme in our artwork. Each cardboard cassette box is decorated with hand-painted mountain landscape covered with emerald web of tiny crackles. Inside it – magic malachite pattern on the pro-printed o-card with special silk-touch-effect finishing and black shell chrome tape with labels on both sides. Also box contains hand-woven jute bracelet with two natural malachite beads and additional printed inserts.

To order tape, please contact us through [email protected]
And of course both tape & digital are available here:

Enjoy onset of spring, our friends! Have a pleasant listening!

Urenga - Pangea Ep

Writing about some recent releases by gterma artists today and the most mysterious of them has to be the beat-drive Pangea EP by Urenga. Mysterious in that I haven't quite figured out if the EP is out yet, and where to grab it, but it appears that Echo Disciplines is a digital label. The music is no mystery though; it is awesome as always.

Writing about some recent releases by gterma artists today. This new and dreamy EP from SecondFace also travels the uncharted roads with that special twist which is so typical in Frank's music.
