If you have followed our page, you know that we LOVE Disney. Nothing makes us happier than spending time at the parks. Until 2020, we traveled to WDW 2-3 times each year. Our most recent trip was in Nov of 2020.
Like many of you, we have sat by quietly and watched Disney make changes that made us question their motivation. Despite the price increases and reduction in services, we recently decided to plan a trip for June 2023. The following is an itemization of the budget for the upcoming trip:
Flights: 4 people, non-stop. Cheapest option = $2,000.00
Transportation to/from the airport/resort: $400 (Magic Express - which was free - was eliminated.)
Park Tix: 4 people, 5 days. $3,000. No park hopper option. (On the last trip, we had annual passes - but these have been eliminated.)
Lightning Lane: 4 people, 5 days, $15/ride x 3 rides = $900 (Fast passes - which were free - have been eliminated)
The resort reservation is covered because we are DVC members (at least for the time being - trust me - we are considering.)
So...$6,300 - before we factor in any food or merchandise.
Bottom line - Disney has lost Walt's vision of offering fun experiences that can be shared by families.
We have canceled our June 2023 trip and opted for another vacation destination.
Wake up, Disney. The clientele to which you currently market will not sustain you. You have priced-out your loyal fan base.
