Energy equity: Bringing solar power to low-income communities

Less than half of U.S. community solar projects have any participation from low-income households. Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and Shiloh Temple International Ministries are changing that, making it easier for more people to access community solar.

Farmers Harvest Energy

“Farming today has been challenging. This is kind of a blessing; the wind turbines have been our saving grace."

Andrew Hamilton is a farmer in Mower County, MN. He sees wind turbines as a way to keep money coming in to his farm, especially in in the midst of unpredictable markets.

More Minnesota farmers are turning to clean energy. Some install solar to power their own farming operations, while others are lease their land for solar and wind.

Joanne Miller lives in Pipestone, Minnesota, where she owns land with her family. They used to have an old windmill on their farm, and Joanne missed it.
