I broke the frame.
I’ve framed my own artworks plenty of times and hand-wired them with flush hooks, but the more expensive frames I just purchased can’t hack the screws. Ahhhhh f*ckit. 🤬

This year I entered the Ink Art competition with responding to the of with my depicting the climate and the fusion of four seasons in a day. There were 400 entries and even though my piece wasn’t selected, I am really proud of how it turned out and wanted to share it with you (Screeech the has even made an appearance!) ☺️

I’ve never retained historical information well. But I do remember learning about ancient Egypt at school, and how fascinated I was by hieroglyphics and pictorial writing. It’s where my love of graphic design, logos and symbols stemmed from. Yesterday I joined Dad for our annual culture day, where we visit the Winter Masterpieces. This year it’s and if you’re in the Victorian region I strongly encourage you to check it out. You won’t be disappointed. The relics and jewels and giant sculptures are impressive, but what overcame me with emotion was standing in front of a picture story that somebody created 4,000 years before my time, on a stone tablet.

It’s never too late (is it…?) to try a new medium!

Today I went out for groceries and came home with some acrylic inks. It’s only taken 4 decades 😂

I had an idea last week when using my trusty ol’ black fine liner and now I’ve just opened up a whole new can of colourful worms.

Just packaged up three artworks to pop in the post tomorrow. They are off to the which is an exhibition with a twist!
All artists remain anonymous until the artwork is sold. Each piece is A5 size, donated by the artist, and all are sold for $100. Money raised goes to support Australian arts organisations and

Last weekend I participated in Artz Blitz 2024, a 24 hour visual arts and creative writing competition run by the City of Kingston.
Once the theme is released (this year it was CHAOS) I had 24 hours to submit a piece in my registered categories. I thought it sounded like a great challenge for somebody who usually likes to take their sweet-arse time crafting their art!

I had to think about ways I could execute a design without printing and framing, to save time (in the 24hr period I only had 5-6 hours where I could actually work, amongst constant requests for food from a 4yo). I resorted to black marker and pencil, something I hadn't done for many years. It was fun watching it unfold on paper!

I entered two categories - 2d art and poetry. I decided to marry the two and came up with 'Imminent Chaos' - a words and pictures set.
I didn't win anything, and at the opening last night, I could easily see why. The quality of entries was incredibly high! But I felt so proud during the awards ceremony when Scarlett said loudly, during a quiet moment between the announcing of winners, "I want them to read out 'Natalie'.” In that moment I felt like a winner, even though shortly afterwards she picked somebody else's artwork for the People's Choice award. 🤭😂🥰

I just spent a week in outback NSW teaching mural design to the most gorgeous bunch of kids at a small remote school in Bunnaloo. I’ve been working on this triptych mural 🎨 for a local daycare centre 👶🏽 for a while but haven’t shared any progress vids!8 cheeky cartoon Australian birds 🐦 sitting in a tree. 🌳 I started out by designing and illustrating on paper ✏️ then transferred the design onto the boards. Painting in acrylic. Will post more progress shortly!
