Here are 4 different chords that you can play the next time you see a 7alt chord symbol in a jazz chart.

The first chords is a D7 #5, the 2nd is a D7 #9 (Hendrix Chord), the 3rd is a D7b9, and the final chord is a D7 #9,b13.

All four are variations of the 7alt sound and work great whenever you want to bring tension and an altered sound to your comping.
