Hello there, it's good to see you again!
My name is Katelyn Dorrell and I am the woman behind SlothHead Press. Those of you who have been following SlothHead for a while will note that we have been fairly quiet the past few months, and I wanted to let you know we are still here! This past year, I started a new adventure as a High School English teacher, which put some publishing projects on the back burner for a little while as I figured out a new position. However! Now that summertime is here I am excited to tell you that we are open for submissions for manuscripts. Additionally, we are in the process of publishing books by both Kathy Stamatson and Hailey East.

SlothHead Press is excited to introduce Kathy Stamatson as the next author to grace our shelves with her children's book "The Puppy Who Couldn't Bark".
Kathy is a veteran educator and mother of two adult sons living on a small ranch close to Emporia, Kansas with her husband, five dogs, two cats, two parrots, two Nigerian Dwarf goats, four horses and some chickens. Her stories are inspired by the students she has had the pleasure of teaching throughout her years in public education. Her first story, “The Puppy Who Couldn’t Bark,” shows children we all have a special talent and can make a difference in our family and community if we try.
Hailey East is hard at work creating illustrations for Kathy's first children's book "The Puppy Who Couldn't Bark". Look for more updates on this fun book in the near future!

A SlothHead Press update!
In the last few months, I have begun two seperate teaching jobs- one at a local high school and one at a community college, both teaching English and Writing. Though I couldn't be more excited by the opportunities that I find myself able to pursue, this means I may be a bit more infrequent with putting out new books until I can get my feet underneath me as a teacher. However, our current titles will still be available at slothheadpress.com. Thank you to everyone who supports me and SlothHead Press, and wish me luck!

I have been a busy busy beta reader the last few days, and loved every moment of it! "Heroes by Design" is a fast paced piece of middle grade Christian fiction. Best friends Sela, Emily, and Zach are working through the struggles of middle school together, allowing their faith to guide them through hardship. But when Emily's mother dies suddenly, Emily turns from her friends and her faith. Debra Irsik, Author Page creates realistic characters readers can't help but root for on their journey to becoming who they are meant to be.

I am so excited to be a part of the Kansas Day Author Showcase this year!

Come check out our display of some of the titles that will be featured at Ellen Plumb's Third Annual Kansas Day Author Showcase. This year we are featuring local small press publishers Kellogg Press, Meadowlark Books, and Slothhead Press--along with a very special appearance by Poet Laureate of Kansas Kevin Rabas. I just finished Max Barry's "Jennifer Government" and it was so good! The story of a world where everything is owned by private companies, and everyone is named for the company they work for. When John Nike decides that the best way to sell new shoes is to kill low income teens who purchase them to make them worth killing for, a chain of events unfold that include a government agent with a secret past, a stock broker who is completely burnt out, and an unemployed computer hacker who just wants to get ahead. If you like dystopia and dry humor, check it out!
