He is a vagabond.
The nickname "Appleseed" comes from the fact
that he spent his life traveling west and scattering apple seeds everywhere, thus helping to spread this species of fruit tree.
Even today, one can find plants descended from those planted
by this strange character.
Johnny Appleseed was indeed a maverick character: he used a tin pot as a hat, was a vegetarian and always walked barefoot. His blue eyes
were oriented more to the sky than to the monotonous tasks that
occupy the lives of most men.

🤠 Leatherman

He is a vagabond.
No one ever saw him hunting or fishing. The inhabitants of the
farms along its path had learned to predict its arrival, which was always regular, and women baked bread to appease its
the proverbial hunger.

The man did not speak much, at most muttering a few sentences in uncertain English to say thank you and, if he was offered hospitality, he politely declined. He loved to smoke
to***co, with a pipe always accompanying him.

He survived scorching summers and freezing winters, sleeping
inside stone caves, which he warmed if necessary by lighting a fire. Before leaving his shelters, he would make sure to leave a pile of wood for the next time.

It is not known how, but he had some money, perhaps through the benevolence of settlers in the area. One store kept
one of his orders: "a loaf of bread, a tin of sardines,
a pound of galettes, a cake, two ounces of coffee, a quart of
pint of brandy and a bottle of beer."

No one knew anything about the Leather Man's past. One
speculated that he was French-speaking, because of his accent and because of a prayer book in French, found among his few personal belongings when he died.

He is a vagabond, lives as a trapper.
Twice a year the mountains resounded with a wild howl. The locals, however, knew full well
that it was not a wolf, but old Louie who was
descending on the town to sell furs and party. The
animalistic foretold heavy drinking. Even the children, who
were running to meet the lonely old trapper, would not run out of wonderful stories and a few sweets
bought at the local emporium.
But once the skins were sold and the thirst extinguished, the forest
would once again swallow the trapper.
