WE HATE CROWS!

Despicable animals. They are noisy, well, actually, cacophonous, annoying, ecologically useless, aesthetically obscene and a threat to our very way of life.

Everybody loves the accordion--

Take these fellows. I think they are Knights Templar, and the photo was taken during the siege of Jerusalem in 1197.

While we can't find any original cast recordings from the Second Crusade, we do have a load of music from people who suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune in our own day and age. We were away for a week, and bears took over our property!

They decimated fruit trees, destroyed bird feeders, crumpled fences. The beehives? Don't even ask. Then they found our rare and irreplaceable stash of accordions-- and it got really ugly.

The operating assumption is that it was, in fact, the famous three bears humiliated by Goldilocks and now seeking revenge. But they'er so cute, protested the neighbors. The cubs look like little, furry basketballs . . .

My Dinner with Albert

Richard's father was an accordion teacher who left his native Italy to work in France, and Richard was born in Cannes in 1950. Pictured here, Richard at 14 years.
