Happy Black History Month! ✊🏾🖤❤️💚
Yesterday, I interviewed Reverend Jermaine Walker, native of Pinewood, SC. Reverend Walker was named black farmer of the year by the National Black Farmers Association! An elite honor. Walker was raised into farming and his family ancestry has 72 acres of land in SC.
At one point, Walker almost lost his farm due to the pandemic and other unforeseen measures. But thanks to a program in the USDA, he was able to wipe the debt clean. Now he is in the process of building his farm back for his children and future generations. The hard reality is that many black farmers aren’t as BLESSED and previed. There are still injustices in the agriculture industry. I feel honored to tell his story in our Black History Month special airing 2/17 on WBTW at Noon.
