From Bavaria Germany, the Wolpertinger is one of Germany’s most famous hybrid creatures in folklore. This creature is an amalgamation with the head of a rabbit, body of squirrel, wings of a pheasant and antlers of a deer. Like any ordinary rabbits and squirrels, they are not dangerous to humans. If it feels threatened, it will spray a foul-smelling liquid much like a skunk. These shy creatures spend most of their time in the forests of Southern Germany eating berries, herbs, insects and roots.

In the 1900s taxidermists in Germany took up the practice of creating this creature to sell as souvenirs to tourists. Similarly to its American cousin, the Jackalope.

We received sightings of the very small and shy Wolpertinger in Bavaria Germany, tread silently and do not be afraid to toss it some herbs and berries if needed.

The Fox, as common as it is in nature, is also incredibly common in mythology. We see them in legends from all across the globe. They often depict characters with characteristics of Tricksters, Cunning, Kindness. In many Grimm Fairy tales, similarly to the wolf, they are used as a character to take caution with. In the night sky the star, Pleiades, is named after a fox. “This constellation marked the place in the eastern sky where the sun rose at the winter solstice [...]” (Matthews 218).

The Each Tened is a fiery horse with the purpose of removing evil-doers that cross its path. Those brazenly enough to mount this horse will find themselves trapped on its back, burning in pain. Similarly to its kin the Each Uisage and the Kelpie, it presents itself as an ordinary horse until it has trapped its prey. In the story ‘The Voyage of O’Carra’ “travellers meet a horse upon the open sea. They hail him and he tells them that he once stole his brother’s horse and rode it on a Sunday. From thence onwards he was fated to ride the phantom Each Tened Which burns his thighs” (Matthews 187)

The Each Tened
Similar to the Each-Uisage and the Kelpie, this creature disguises itself as a horse. Specifically to lure those with evil intent. When this person attempts to ride this creature, they become trapped on its back. The horse then ignites into flame and fury. Tormenting its captured rider for their past deeds.
