Whilst we know the value in multilingual podcasts - access to incredible stories through creators, interpreters and journalists around the world - podcasting as a whole is yet to adopt the idea of dual language production.

Yet there is much to gain from the innovations and experiences that come from centering other languages, something that was explored in the ‘Beyond Anglophone Podcasts’ global voices session at the 2022 International Women’s Podcast Festival and recognised by the introduction of a new category to celebrate podcasts in languages other than English at the 2023 International Women’s Podcast Awards.

In our latest article .tea recommends some great multilingual and non-English productions:

~ Ochenta stories from
~ Forgotten: Women of Juárez from iHeartMedia and
~ Blum from .wtf (Spanish) and .creative (English)
~ 0800 MATARIKI from
~ The Last Days of Maradona from
~ Anything For Selena from and
~ Costa Nostra from
~ Esgusodwch fi? from

📢 We’re thrilled to announce that Content is Queen has received a prestigious award from the UK’s innovation agency

This award propels forward a visionary project aimed at creating a comprehensive marketplace for audio content creators, advertisers, and commissioners.

Our new marketplace initiative aims to streamline the commissioning process, foster creative partnerships, and promote diversity across the board. It is designed with three key stakeholders in mind: creators, advertisers, and commissioners, each standing to gain unparalleled benefits. ✨

This support from Innovate UK enables us to fast-track the development of the marketplace and our work in advocating for diversity and inclusion in the audio industry. 🙌🏾🙌🏾

As founder says. “This grant not only recognises our commitment to reshaping the audio industry but also enables us to create more opportunities for diverse voices to be heard.”

We’ll have more news about the marketplace coming soon. In the meantime you can catch a glimpse of the new website and read the news in full on the blog.

Podcasting’s low barrier to entry has many amazing benefits for creators, but this grassroots approach to audio production can leave podcasters open to potential problems.

The small or non-existent budgets often mean a large amount of podcasting ends up running on trust and goodwill.

In our latest article, we explore some of the contracts that all podcasters should be considering if you want to cover yourself from potential legal issues.

People seem to act in one of two ways in January: fly hot out the gates, filling days and booking diaries with new projects – or take a slow start to the year, resting in the winter month.

Whatever your January vibe, rather than bombarding you with a list of shows you must listen to right away, we’ve chosen some to listen out for later in 2024.

They’re a mix of new podcasts that we know are in the works, and podcasts that have been around for a while but might be doing something a bit different this year.

🎙️ Pilot Season from
🎙️ Heavyweight (and other cancelled shows)
🎙️ Audible Original – 1984
🎙️ More shows from (Love, Janessa)
🎙️ Shocking, Heartbreaking, Transformative from
🎙️ The Content Is Queen micro-grant winners - watch this space!
🎙️ ANTHEMS from Broccoli Productions

When this article first went out, we suggested ANTHEMS as a show that always delivers. Following the sad announcement of their closure, we hope that the producers and team can continue to spread their passion and skill for creating “bold, creative and inclusive shows that break through industry barriers”. Huge amounts of love and respect to the Broccoli team. 💙

With the temperature dropping to around zero in London, what better than listening to some foodie podcasts to warm the ears and feed the soul. 🍲

You’ll often find food podcasts in the Arts category on podcast apps. And whilst it’s true that good cooking can be an art form, podcasts about food are so much more than that, often connecting us to the cultures, heritage, stories and travel that inspire them.

Whatever aspect of food you want to explore, these podcasts provide the perfect recipe for your next listen. 😋

~ Lecker by Lucy Dearlove
~ Should You Really Eat That? with Lee Tran Lam
~ The Black Kitchen Series with Jade Verette
~ Your Mama’s Kitchen with Michele Norris
~ Whisky Sisters with Inka Larissa and Jennifer Rose .podcast

Today is the third anniversary of George Floyd's death. A death so powerful it inspired action and pledges from some of the biggest brands, some of whom are in our industry.

This should be a day of resting and healing, but unfortunately, one of the most significant events in the industry has coincided with this tragic anniversary.

For months, we've been trying to raise the funds to put on the International Women’s Podcast Festival which some of you have come to know and love but were met with the same excuses about lack of funding. So we’re asking, where is the money?

In a recent listener survey, Acast found that 92% of respondents are open to hearing about ‘sensitive and less spoken about’ topics.

To us, podcasting allows for just that. It’s a medium that enables creators, particularly women, to tackle difficult or taboo subjects head-on, without censorship. Instead, podcasting champions these conversations to take place offering a safe space for both listeners and hosts alike.
