3M knew. They knew there were PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in almost everything we use. The fire retardant used by the City of Stuart was so infused with PFAS that the City of Stuart, along with a number of other communities, sued 3M over it.

There’s a BOCC meeting today. Amongst the FIVE re-zoning / land use development agenda items is one to approve the Discovery / Rural Lifestyle project. (Reminder: Smith, Jenkins, & Hetherington voted for the text amendment and the County opted to defend their vote in court with the support of Becker B-14.) So this seems like the perfect time to talk about the 2024 elections and voting.

Let's talk about TRAFFIC.

There are many things to consider when reviewing a residential or commercial development application... land use, density, school concurrency, and traffic just to name a few. With applications reviewed in a silo (meaning no application is viewed holistically as it relates to other pending developments), we are left at the mercy of the votes of the commissioners. And when they vote to allow greater densities, they inevitably increase the traffic.

Shorter version: more people and poor planning equals more cars and more traffic.

So buckle up and pack your patience. Traffic isn't getting any better. We explain why.
