Lately, I’ve seen marketers online saying, “Lead-gens are dead.”

If you haven’t come across this clickbait, count yourself lucky.
Let me reassure you: I call B.S. 🙅‍♀️

Because if you read past the headline, you’ll find they’re not actually saying to stop using lead generators altogether — they’re just pushing different formats.

Things like quizzes, video series, or assessments.
And listen… those are great!

We love those! But I still call B.S. on the idea that lead-gen PDFs are dead.

We (and our clients) are consistently seeing success growing email lists and client rosters with simple, well-done lead-gen PDFs.

🥱 Boring freebies

☑️ Opt-ins that don’t solve a real, specific problem for your audience

My take:
Your lead magnet doesn’t need to be flashy.
It just needs to be valuable — and clearly helpful.

Need help creating one that actually works? Let’s talk.

Or tell me in the comments: Have you ever downloaded a lead magnet that actually wowed you?

Here's the thing: we’ve seen people get a sudden influx of followers… only to realize later that those people aren’t their audience.

Your engagement rate will tank when your audience grows too fast (and with the wrong crowd). That hurts your reach and your ability to connect with the people you want to serve.

Focus on growing your audience intentionally by creating content that serves them and combining that with social media trends that feel inspiring to you and align with your content.

How do you feel about chasing virality? Have you gone viral? What did it do or NOT do for your business? We would love to hear about it.

We had such fun “going back to school” with this first-time mascot rebrand project!

Cornerstone needed a new mascot logo, and while updating their beloved bulldog, we adjusted their colors to stand out from surrounding schools.

The result?
A logo that fuels school spirit and gives students a stronger identity to rally behind. 📣

Fun bonus project: Our team designed a “puppy” version for the elementary school! 🐶

Once we applied new colors and fonts across all academic logos for both schools, the entire school became visually consistent under one brand.

This project wasn’t just about a logo but building long-lasting pride, recognition, and school spirit.

Launching something bold for someone bold. You love to see it!

We had the chance to partner with Seth Berge on his new website, a project combining his strong brand photography, a bold new logo (that we created for him), and fresh brand colors to create a digital home for all his ventures.

The goal? Make the site stand out without overshadowing his other businesses. The result is a sleek, cohesive, and uniquely Seth site.

Being a remote team has its perks, but staying connected takes intention. At Stratos, we make time for monthly virtual happy hours where one of our team members gets to host. Think-themed playlists, games, and plenty of laughs.

We also drop a weekly “water cooler” question in our random Slack Channel. It could be anything from “What was your first job?” to “What snack are you weirdly passionate about?” It’s a fun way to learn more about each other beyond the work we do.

And when a few of us end up in the same city, we love to grab coffee and co-work for a few hours.

Connection matters. It’s what makes our work better and our days brighter.

How do you stay connected to your community, whether in person or online? Drop your favorite way in the comments!

My job at Stratos involves mostly coming up with ideas. But even someone with lots of ideas can feel a need to recharge their idea-making machine… their brain.

Recently, I (Ryann) have been keeping the book “Read This For Inspiration” by my workstation, AKA my couch, for when I need a little inspiration that is not scrolling. The book itself is separated into different topics, so if I can look for something specific, it’s available. Still, something about opening to a random page feels good.

I recently opened up to a page with an Illustration that read “Haters aren’t Makers” with a blurb that spoke to the balance of being brave when creating and balancing constructive criticism vs people who are just haters. It takes a lot of bravery to show up online and put yourself (as a person or business owner) there.

In a world where being chronically online is my job. It reminds me of a few things:
🎨 Remember to keep creating, even when its scary.
🗣️ Be kind when you give feedback.
💃 Shake the haters off.

What’s something you do that shapes the way you create? I would love to hear about it.

We’ve seen it firsthand.

One of our clients originally titled their freebie “5 Ways to Budget Better.”

Helpful? Sure.
Clear? Kinda.

But not exactly scroll-stopping.
We renamed it to “5 Ways to Save $100 Each Week.”

The result?
📈 More clicks. More downloads. More leads.

Why?

👉 Because the second version is more specific, benefit-driven, and instantly tells the reader what they’ll get.

If I were going back to school to major in lead generation 😉, I wish someone had taught me this...

Give people what they want. Not just what they need.

When we first started creating lead generators, we focused on what we thought our audience should know. But then we learned that our audience is searching for quick wins that feel relevant right now, not five steps from now.
When you meet your potential client where they are, you build trust. Once they’re on your email list, there’s time to guide them toward what they truly need.

That mindset shift changed everything for us. And it’s now one of the first lessons we share with clients!

So let’s flip the script: What do you wish someone had taught you sooner—in business or in life?

If you feel guilty about stepping away, this is your reminder: Rest is productive, and so is asking for help.

Whether taking a real day off or outsourcing the parts of your business that drain you (hello, marketing), giving yourself space can move things forward.

You’re the expert in what you do. But if you’re not the expert in marketing what you do… that’s where we come in. If marketing is the thing you’re ready to hand off, reach out! We’d love to help.

Even though social media gets all the hype, 89% of marketers still say email is their go-to for generating leads (Source: Porch Group Media).

Surprised?

Social media builds awareness, but email keeps your business in mind and moves people through the buying process. That’s why we help our clients grow their email lists and follow up with thoughtful, strategic emails that guide new leads toward becoming customers.

It’s not about being pushy; it’s about being persistent in the right way.
