"According to the NGC Price Guide, as of June 2024, a Mercury Dime from 1945 in circulated condition is worth between $3.20 and $5.75."

Rachel has been using the Nokta Simplex where I was still using an older Garrett Ace 350 (great starter machine by the way), BUT i was looking to upgrade and decided to splurge a little. My initial choice was the Xterra Pro, But after visiting with the staff at High Plains Prospectors and getting to hold several floor models, I decided to start down the line with the Double Score. Here is my first run with this really sweet, turn on and go, multi-frequency machine.

So, after using the Garret ACE350 for the last couple years, and loving the simplicity and power up - detect style, I thought it was time to consider an upg...

Answer to "What did we dig up? Wednesday". It is a "J" hook for holding a knapsack or other gear to a soldiers body. This one is brass and would have been a Union Soldiers pack. It was found with other items from the Union in either an encampment, assembly point or conflict area. We found shell fragments so we believe an artillery shell went off in the same area.

This week on "What Did We Dig Up?" Wednesday. This little brass item isn't very big, but is very important. The round head is about the 3/8" diameter. It will also be seen on one of our next videos. Give us your best guess, Answer will be tonight or tomorrow.

ANSWER : This is one i had not heard before, but it is a pressure gauge off of what some call Enginair, but it is a Ford accessory tire pump (for tractors and maybe cars too) . The original mobile air pump. Remove a spark plug, screw in the tire pump, and let your tractor engine pump it back up .

We are Back with another "What Did We Dig Up?" Wednesday. Thanks to my dad for a unique history lesson on this one as i had no idea.... Give it your best shot, be careful going with the obvious.... Answer later tonight.... Oh, penny for size comparison.

There is so much more to detecting than coins and can slaw (aluminum). So much history is still in the ground, and in that, the broken beauty of glass that tells a story of yesteryear.
