I Remember Coach Umbles (Part II) His College Years

"Coach Umbles was bigger than life to me. One evening in 1967 I fell and injured myself at cheerleading practice. Coach Umbles ran to our gym and called an ambulance. Then he stooped down over my mangled torso and said "Don't worry angel, they're coming." The sirens blared and sped down Michigan Avenue containing me and my poor dislocated elbow...but all I could think about was,
he called me....angel."
