CHILD STRUCK: Ramapo police investigate how an 8-year old boy was struck and killed by a school bus .. outside a school in the Village of New Square, Rockland County early Monday evening.
MAJOR ROADWORK
Crews begin replacing a huge sewer line overnight on Rt. 303 in Orangetown. This huge project will have this busy thoroughfare in Rockland County shut down over the entire weekend from Orangeburg Road to Erie Street in Blauvelt.
GAS LEAK .. O & R crews investigating overnight as some neighborhoods in North Rockland remain on edge. This after multiple people in Haverstraw have been reporting a foul smell over the past two days. Residents on Oakwood Lane in Theills were briefly evacuated Friday evening.
FOGGY CRASH: Multiple tractor-trailers collided with other vehicles on a foggy Interstate 84 in western Orange County late Tuesday morning. Numerous people got hurt and taken to the hospital. But New York State Police say none of the injuries were life-threatening. The crash happened in the eastbound lanes .. with traffic backing up into Pennsylvania.
SUNDAY SHOOTING .. Police say one person was struck after about a dozen bullets were fired outside two crowded churches in the City of Newburgh. The gunfire rang out around noon at South and Liberty Streets. Police say the shooting was not connected to the churches, though.
TROOPER CRASH .. NYSP Trooper suffered non life-threatening injuries after car was rear ended by a pick-up truck on the northbound NYS Thruway in Tuxedo early this afternoon. Police say the trooper had been assisting a disabled motorist on the left shoulder. The crash caused the trooper car to strike the disabled vehicle. Police say the driver of that disabled vehicle was also hurt. They say the pick-up driver was not injured.
MASSIVE BLAZE
An explosion and huge fire Thursday night in the greenhouse and nursery at "United Orchids" .. a grower and global distributor of exotic flowers in Orange County. Firefighters say at least one person suffered severe burns.

THE SMOKY BLAZE HAPPENED EARLY SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN THE VILLAGE OF FLORIDA .. AT 35 JONAH CIRCLE.
THE HOMEOWNER SAYS HE WAS OUT MOWING HIS LAWN WHEN HE SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING IN THE GARAGE.
HE ALERTED HIS WIFE WHO SAYS SHE WAS INSIDE COOKING.
SHE GOT OUT SAFELY .. ALONG WITH THE FAMILY CAT.
THE BLAZE REACHED THREE ALARMS AS DOZENS OF FIREFIGHTERS FROM SEVEN NEIGHBORING DEPARTMENTS RUSHED TO THE HOME .. WHICH SITS TOWARD THE END OF A CUL-DE-SAC.
IT TOOK THEM NEARLY TWO HOURS TO GET THE FIRE COMPLETELY OUT.
NOBODY GOT HURT.
FLORIDA'S ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF SAYS THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
THE DISPLACED FAMILY IS BEING HELPED BY NEIGHBORS.
STORM DAMAGE: A powerful thunder and hail storm Friday evening left a lot of damage behind ... once again .. in Orange County. A woman inadvertently drove into a downed tree on Rt. 207 in Campbell Hall. She escaped unharmed. Toppled trees and wires also blocked off Lybolt & Hufcut Roads in Circleville .. in the Town of Wallkill.

THE SCENE UNFOLDED AT VANDERBILT AND UNIVERSITY DRIVES.
POLICE ON SITE SAY NEIGHBORS FOUND HOLES IN THE ICE AND A CHILD'S BELONGINGS NEARBY.
IT'S UNCLEAR IF A CHILD WAS ACTUALLY MISSING AT THE TIME.
BUT STATE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT DIVE TEAMS FROM BOTH ORANGE AND ROCKLAND COUNTIES WERE CALLED IN AS A PRECAUTION.
POLICE SAY THE SEARCH WAS CALLED OFF AFTER NEARLY THREE HOURS WHEN NO PERSON WAS FOUND IN THE WATER.
