Hello all! We put out a new episode today where Kat and I chat about the Common Raven whose scientific name I get wrong! Listen to it on Spotify 💖 https://spotify.link/H4pGgv18sDb
In this episode, I retell the story of the Raven stealing the Sun, and talk about my absolute favorite sculpture by my favorite artist, Preston Singletary. This story belongs to the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest including the Tlingit and Haida peoples. I am NOT indigenous so I apologize if my retelling doesn't match up with your understanding of it and I hope I get the point across about how much I respect and admire this epic tale. I hope you enjoy the episode!
Plan your visit to the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC for "The Land Carries Our Ancestors: Contemporary Art by Native Americans" exhibition, opening on September 22nd. On view until January 15, 2024.
Curated by artist Jaune Quick-to-See Smith (Citizen of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nation), this exhibition brings together works by an intergenerational group of nearly 50 living Native artists practicing across the United States, including Preston Singletary.
