On Tuesday, CEO Nicole Glazebrook attended the cast and crew screening in Melbourne, alongside Fika Entertainment MD Jordan Beth Vincent and Every Cloud MD and producer Drew Grove.

Last night, Every Cloud flew to Canberra to attend theAustralian Children's Television Foundationn (ACTF)’s annual showcase. Hosted at Parliament House by Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke, the event treated MPs and their families to a cast & crew screening of "Windcatcher."

Produced by Meg O'Connell and Drew Grove, executive produced by Bernadette O’Mahony for ACTF, and Cailah Scobie, Donna Chang, and Rachel Okine for Stan, "Windcatcher" was made possible through major investment fromScreen Australiaa and the ACTF, in collaboration with Stan and VicScreen. Its development was further supported by investment from theQueensland Governmentt throughScreen Queenslandd.

What is realtime animation?

Realtime animation is the process of utilising a game engine technology with performance capture to puppet and render 3D character in real time.

At Fika, we couple realtime animation through performance capture with realtime rendering through Unreal Engine to create a live playback of not only a character, but a full animated sequence with environment, set dressing and props. This previsualisation of the final sequence allows for adjustments to be made to the performance while on the mocap stage, saving time in post production.

Realtime animation dramatically reduces the time, effort, and cost required to create high-quality animated content compared to a traditional animation workflow. It's becoming increasingly popular in creating digital content that requires quick turn-around, puppeteering interactive characters at live events, and providing a first-look of long-form animated content to clients before commencing post production.

Using our in-house pipeline, motion capture technology, paired with Unreal Engine, enabled Fika Entertainment to deliver 300 minutes of finished animation in 12 months, with just 50 staff members.

Meet Mikee, another one of our extraordinary motion capture performers!

Mikee is a multitalented performer who lives to entertain and bring joy to audiences worldwide. With a professional background in hip-hop/street dance, he was eventually cast in the Las Vegas show, JABBAWOCKEEZ Müs.I.C, which brought him to Australia, where he has expanded his talents to acting, voice over, and stand up comedy.

Coupled with his experience as an early childhood educator, Mikee felt that playing Dipsy in 'Teletubbies Let's Go!' was the perfect fit - and as one of the show’s choreographers, Mikee brings his own brand of silliness and movement expertise to every episode. Today, you can catch him voicing characters in games, getting down on stage, or “making laugh” to audiences from all over.

Meet Jules, one of our wonderful motion capture performers!

Jules has had the fun-filled job of suiting up as a motion-capture performance artist with Fika Entertainment on Mattel’s 'American Girl Designer House' as Mia, and as Po on 'Teletubbies Let’s Go'. After receiving a Diploma of Screen and Media (Acting) at New York Film Academy (Gold Coast) in 2017, she graduated from the University of Canberra/TAFE Queensland in 2021 with a Bachelor of Acting and Performance.

Recent credits include mIxED Productions’ 'Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons' and Observatory Theatre’s 'Picnic at Hanging Rock'. She will next be seen in Observatory Theatre’s 'Disney Off Ice' and 'Robert the Cat’s Famished Future Feeders', the latter premiering at Metro Arts in addition to being her first professionally staged, full-length original piece as a playwright.

Eh-oh, meet Ranee! The talented motion capture performer for Laa-Laa in 'Teletubbies Let's Go!'

A graduate of Deakin University many moons ago, Ranee found her passion for the Performing Arts at a young age. Over the past 20 years Ranee has been entertaining children on the stage and screen. A lover of animals and the ocean, Ranee spends her days off with her rescue dogs on her houseboat.

Ranee loves working in the world of Motion Capture with the awesome cast and crew at Fika, who have always made her feel so welcome. She has never laughed so much on a set! She hopes to continue to learn and grow in the Performance Capture industry - who knows, maybe one day you might see her running around as a Na’vi… or an Orc!

Meet Liam, our awesome Animation Supervisor!

After graduating with a Bachelor of Animation with Honours in 2009, Liam has contributed to a plethora of games and children's streamed content both as a freelancer and with studios, as well as teaching animation. His impressive portfolio of experience includes Polly Pocket, Num Noms, Cozy Coupe, Little Baby Bum and Lellobee City Farm. Since joining Fika in early 2022, he has been the Animation Supervisor for the first season of the digital series 'Teletubbies Let's Go!'.

He started teaching himself Python scripting about 5 years ago, which he uses to automate repetitive animation tasks and make cool tools! His goal is to ultimately separate the technical from the creative, so animators can purely focus on good, clear performance of characters instead of struggling through technical issues. He finds that the flexibility Fika allows him to switch between animating and Python scripting keeps his mind fresh and focused on the task at hand.

Here he can be seen in his natural habitat, channeling Fika's original character, Teddy!
