The City of Jonesboro will continue to operate warming shelters at our community centers and will consider additional hours when/if warranted.
❄️ Earl Bell Community Center, 1212 S. Church St.
Open: 9am-9pm weekdays, noon-5pm Sat.
❄️ Allen Park Community Center, 3609 Race St.
Open: 3:30-9pm weekdays, noon-5pm Sat.
❄️ Parker Park Community Center, 1506 N. Church St.
Open: 3:30-9pm weekdays, noon-5pm Sat.

❄ In addition, the Salvation Army Overnight Warming Shelter will begin operation Tuesday evening, Jan. 9 beginning at 4pm, and will remain open overnight through Tuesday evening, Jan. 16. Additional hours will be considered if/when warranted.

❄️ Jonesboro Economical Transit (JET) system will provide FREE rides to/from the overnight shelter or a warming center when requested.

❄️ For help with non-emergency services, such as provisions & hot meals, call United Way's 211 hotline for assistance.

A new era began for A-State football tonight as Butch Jones took the field as the Red Wolves’ new head football coach. A-State beat UCA in its season opener at Centennial Bank Stadium.

RED WOLF EXPRESS READY FOR FOOTBALL SEASON

The JET Red Wolf Express, Jonesboro’s city-provided bus service to Arkansas State University home football games, will ferry riders from downtown to Centennial Bank Stadium and back on football Saturdays again this season.
The Red Wolves first game is 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, against Central Arkansas. JET buses will take riders who park downtown to the northwest corner of the stadium outside gate 11. Buses leave from the corner of Cate and Church streets every 20 minutes starting at 4 p.m. and every 15 minutes from 5 till 5:30 p.m.
Return service will begin at the start of the third quarter and continue every 30 minutes until 20 minutes after the game.
Special precautions will be taken to ensure safety of passengers, and Federal Transportation Authority guidelines require masks be worn at all times. This policy will be strictly enforced. Buses will not be filled to capacity to allow for social distancing.
Round-trip prices are $2.50 for adults; $1.20 for seniors over 65, disabled, Veterans with Veteran’s Pass and youth ages 6-18; $1.80 for students with ID; free for children under 6.

DOWNTOWN BBQ AND MUSIC FESTIVAL CANCELED

The Jonesboro Advertising and Promotion Commission’s Downtown Jonesboro BBQ and Music Festival has been canceled again this year because of COVID-19 concerns.

Festival organizers said while it is disappointing, this is the responsible thing to do with the current exponential growth of new COVID-19 cases throughout Northeast Arkansas.

This year’s event would have been the 13th annual festival, which includes the Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned Arkansas State Championship and a Friday night steak cookoff. The Kansas City Barbecue Society is the largest barbecue organization in the world.
