News Flash: CROSS RIVER STATE GOVERNMENT PLANS TO PROMOTE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT.
Yesterday, 1st of September, 2023 the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Barr. Ukam Ijom Charles, was live on air, and he spoke on some of the ways that the CRS government planned to promote youth Development.
FM: CURBING YOUTHS RESTIVENESS IN CRS.
: How do you intend to curb youths restiveness in CRS?
: By creating the awareness that the future belongs to the youths and that it must not be destroyed by them; sensitizing them to the fact the future and its nature depend on the decisions and choices they make; creating in them a sense of history, especially of the noble and heroic contributions of the youth in the past to the socioeconomic and sociopolitical development of CRS.
: How do you intend to achieve this?
:
1. The ministry of Youths Development will enhance information flow among youths through seminars, workshops, and lectures.
2. Ensure equitable distribution of information and telecommunication facilities in both urban and rural areas;
integrate available sources of information to enhance accessibility and visibility of youth information needs.
3. Ensure that every youth development policy has an information and communication component; increase opportunities for entrepreneurial development among youth.
4. Give access to credit facilities and other support mechanisms to young investors.
5. Increase allocations for youth development and youth-related programme.
6. Use all channels of information to enlighten youths on the adverse effects of acts of rebellion; partner with multinationals to ensure the development of functional and well-equipped libraries in all educational institutions.
7. Ensure accessibility of information for skill acquisition, self employment, job opportunities, and self-reliance among youth.
: What are the specific areas you intend to focus on in your youth empowerment programs?
