first impression:
it's really awesome to see the game how I imagined it back on the original Gameboy, everything you remember is there with a bit more, you should know by now that you can't battle wild Pokemon anymore but it's not such a drag as there's still walkways full of trainers to fight, I think this comes from the emphasis on merging Pokemon Go phone users with the core game, but it's not an intrusion on my experience at all, although the "option" to be able to fight wild Pokemon would have been nice
the game falls short in the same area that most of the Switch titles do, it's another game you've already owned, played, and beaten, with little more than convenience and nostalgia to make the pitch, yes the game is really fun to play and although I thoroughly enjoy it I'm really hoping more than anything this is merely a strong arm flex from Nintendo to get ready for the next actual Pokemon title coming for the Switch - in terms of sorting how the visuals should look, testing the market, getting the staff ready for something that should blow our minds (unless it's just as copy and paste as Let's Go Pikachu there's soooo much potential for a Pokemon title on the Switch)
anyways, the game isn't pitching anything more than what it is, I feel the advertising was pretty transparent and upfront, it's an HD, updated version of a game you know and love, despite the small change to battling I think any Pokemon fan will love this title, it's really fun and I dig the game, can't wait to see what the next Pokemon title holds in store!
