Mary’s hospital the same year the Mapes Hotel was built.He’s a 1965 graduate of Reno High School and also attended Central Junior High School. Being on TV is something that runs in the Stoddard family. Dick’s father Bob Stoddard, owned KATO-AM 1340, later known as KBET. His mother is local legend "TV Betty," who hosted the afternoon movie on Channel 8 for 18 years. Dick began his own broadcast car

eer at age 14, playing the "Boss Hits" on KCBN-AM 1230. He took a break from the airwaves from 1965 to 1971, when he served in the Nevada Air National Guard. Dick started doing on-air TV weather work in 1986 on KCRL-TV, and has forecasted Reno weather regularly since. He received the NWA TV Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association in 1998. You can catch Dick’s forecasts weekends at 6:30 and 11:00, only on KOLO-8 News Now.
