Independence Day is fast approaching! Although you might be excited about grilling out and watching fireworks, your dog might not be. More dogs go missing on the 4th of July than any other day of the year, so here are a few tips to consider for anyone with an anxious dog you know will react to fireworks.

1. Keep your dog inside! The easiest way to keep dogs safe is to keep them inside and away from fireworks.

2. Make sure your dog has your contact information on a collar or on a microchip. Even if your dog escapes your house or runs away from you, there is a better chance they will be reunited with you.

3. Walk your dog or take them out to potty before fireworks get started. By planning ahead of time, you can help your dog avoid fireworks entirely.

Missing since June 1st. In Rolling Green neighborhood in Clemmons. Ash is a male 8 year old cat. He’s definitely a big cat. He’s super friendly and very missed. He had a black spot on his nose and a white spot on his right side. I can be reached at 336-941-7199.

Found: Salem Lake Trail

Male, intact, German Shepherd mix, has a camouflage breakaway collar and a lime green nylon lead rope. Not microchipped. Was found in the Salem Lake Trail area near the Linville Road - New Garden side of the trail. He’s friendly and knows basic commands like sit.
