Hey LABO Nation! I had to break my silence as a citizen journalist today and declare that as an unofficial member of the media, I am NOT an enemy of the American media. Apologies for the long-winded talk, but I just had to speak my mind as someone who has worked for major news media organizations in the past and is in the news gathering/reporting business as a hobby.

Feel free to opine if you wish. Let's keep the conversation civil, please.

This was not an easy episode to film. I pay tribute to Miami Marlins pitcher José Fernández on LABO this week following his tragic death.

In this episode, I reflect on the tragic loss of Miami Marlins pitcher José Fernández and how his story of fleeing Cuba supersedes his baseball story. My deepest condolences and sincerest prayers to José Fernández's mother, grandmother, family, friends, and the Miami Marlins organization.

It was around this time last year that we, LABO Nation, teamed up to raise $1,000 to Harlem RBI. It's great to see the school continue to carry out its mission of providing incredible education to inner-city kids, and what a treat to see the school invite Sharon Robinson, Jackie Robinson's daughter!

Thank you for reading with us this morning, Sharon Robinson!

In this week’s episode of LABO, I discuss Colin Kaepernick's refusal to stand during the national anthem and his constitutional rights.

I know this topic has drawn some anger and very heated debates, especially on Facebook. Regardless of your stance, I implore you to watch. Watch it once, maybe two or three more times. Take notes if you need to. Just know that this is about having an honest, open, and civilized discussion about an issue that really matters.

LABO goes live again this Sunday! WOOOOOOOT!

31/08/2016

Just finished speaking to Judge Lou Schiff, a Mitchell Hamline Law professor and co-author of the "Baseball and the Law" casebook. Our interview will go live this Sunday, September 4th. We'll be talking about the book, antitrust law, labor law, and much more.

Quick editorial: I read the casebook cover to cover and it is a real masterpiece. Loads of info and the case notes are superb. If I ever have the privilege of serving as an adjunct professor at a university or a law school, there's no doubt that I would use this book to teach a baseball law course.

Gave the LABO anchor desk a little upgrade. Talk about pizzazz, right?! See you guys next week! 💯👍🏻

Imagine if with all these headlines that there's a Netflix series created in the style of "Making a Murderer." That would be GOLD.

Brazilian authorities: "You weren't robbed at gun point, right Ryan?"
*SILENCE*
Brazilian authorities: "Hmmm? Right, Ryan?"
Ryan Lochte: "JEEEEEAAAAHHHH???"
