Ex-militant leaders under Phase 2 of the amnesty programme, have constituted a new national executive to pilot the affairs of the group to next level.

The new executive, which was constituted this week in Warri, Delta State, after a keenly contested election produced Stephen Ebisinte as National chairman, he got fifty-seven votes to beat his co-contestant, James Rume of Delta State, who got twenty votes.

Elected to various offices include Solomon Adu as national vice chairman, Abraham Ekokotu , Godspower Mabiko financial secretary, Livinus Lucky P. R. O., Tunde Agboufa speaker, Oyas Kpoku, treasurer and Paul Johnson assistant secretary.

Others include Seaman David action 1, James Rume provost, Simon Kabowei, action 2, Allen Tom adviser 1, Deacon Emmanuel Victor adviser 2, Emmanuel Lawson, treasurer 2, Moses Andrew, adviser 3 and James Rume was unanimously voted as provost.

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC says it would begin registration for the General Certificate Examination, GCE 2017 for private candidates this Friday.

Registrar of the council, Iyi Uwadie, made this known to newsmen in Accra, the capital of Ghana saying the move is to ensure that many private candidates, who desire the certificate for various purposes would be able to obtain the certificate.

Uwadie points out that the normal registration period is from Friday April 28 to June 28, 2017 while late registration would be accommodated as ” walk-in-candidates” provided they register twenty four hours to the start of the papers they intend to write.

Indications are rife that Pro-Biafra groups are planning a reception in the South-East for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, following the bail granted him by an Abuja Federal High Court.

Leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, Uchenna Madu, disclosed this in a statement hours after the court’s ruling.

The MASSOB leader, who expressed joy over Kanu’s bail, described the development as ‘triumph of light over evil’.
Madu explained that MASSOB identifies with Kanu as ‘a true representative’ of the pro-Biafra movement.

The Federal High court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

Presiding judge, Binta Nyako gave the order to allow Kanu attend to his ailing health condition but barred him from granting any interviews and attending rallies.

Nyako also ordered Kanu to produce three sureties with one hundred million naira each.

You would recall that Kanu and three others have been in detention since 2015, facing trial on allegations of treason.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has expressed optimism that the Federal Government would be committed to implementing decisions of a new negotiation team on the 2009 agreements.

The union’s National President, Biodun Ogunyemi, raised the hope during interview with newsmen in Lagos.

Ogunyemi says the National Executive Committee of the union on March 6, met with the negotiating team set up by the Federal Government, to look into the issues.

The crisis currently rocking the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) seems not to be abating soon as accusations and counter accusations from the gladiators involved in the feud keep rising by the day. Even the truce meeting called by former President Goodluck Jonathan met a brick wall.
