A MIRROR MAZE: NUMBERS IN NATURE
PHOENIX – A sneak preview of the Arizona Science Center’s newest exhibit “Numbers in Nature A Mirror Maze.” This exhibit is all about the mathematical patterns that occur in nature, interactive games, high-tech imagery and hands-on exhibits lets kids and adults explore fractals, spirals, the Fibonacci sequence. The centerpiece of the exhibit is a mirror maze that will challenge guests to navigate through a dizzying pattern of mirrors with dead-ends and secret rooms. Demolition of Daisy Mountain Fire Station 145 began today to make way for the new station. Estimated completion is towards the end of November 2017.
This video was taken while out covering the accident on I 17 north of New River Road. This driver drove in reverse on the shoulder from the accident scene for about a mile before exiting the north bound on ramp at New River while still in reverse. Not only does this put others safety at risk it could have prevented or delayed First Responders from getting to the accident scene. Please remember to use caution, be aware of your surroundings and stay safe out there.
The ground breaking ceremony for the new Daisy Mountain Fire 🚒 administration building located next to Station 142. Construction will begin towards the end of the month. Estimated completion is October 2017.
Daisy Mountain Fire Department’s Citizen Fire Academy
Last night, the Daisy Mountain Fire Department’s Citizen Fire Academy gave class participants the chance to go up in the “basket" of the DMFD ladder truck. This ladder can go up to 100 ft. and is used in firefighting to give an aerial view of the scene and direct water to a major fire with extreme water pressure and accuracy.
This ladder truck demonstration was part of the 8-week Citizen Fire Academy, which gives class members a behind-the-scenes look at how the fire department works and the many different ways DMFD helps keep the community safe. See more about the Citizen Fire Academy in next week’s Foothills Focus.
