Borrowed from the San Francisco Remembered group here on The Facebook – a great 1964 shot of Sly Stone, Bobby Freeman, Tom "Big Daddy" Donahue and Bob Mitchell. Tom and Bob were superstar jocks on 1260/KYA at the time. Sly was a KSAN (1450 AM) disc jockey and staff producer for Donahue and Mitchell's Autumn and Tempo Productions (before becoming a superstar himself) and Bobby Freeman ("C'mon and Swim") was a popular recording artist on their label, and appeared at their Cow Palace concerts.

Sure, you know that 1260 KYA presented the last-ever full concert by The Beatles. But did you also know that KYA's Tom Campbell promoted the final concert by The Monkees in the 1960s – on November 30, 1969, at the Oakland Coliseum Arena. (They would re-group in the 1980s.) We bid a wistful farewell to Ray Hildebrand, who was the "Paul" to Jill Jackson's "Paula" (who just happens to be Super Harlow's cousin) on the beloved tune "Hey Paula." Ray passed away on August 18 at his home in Overland Park, Kan. He was 82.
