In a decision issued July 27, the Court of Appeals affirmed that the Superior Court correctly granted OORC's motion for Summary Judgement in the French Creek Road case. That means --- WE WON!!

To be more specific, the Court affirmed that the French Creek Road is a public road by virtue of the fact that the right of way was properly created and accepted from the feds by the county, and that public status was also created by immediate and consistent public use over 100 years ago.

The only downside to all of this great news is that OORC was not granted "reasonable attorneys fees," which means we still have a very large outstanding bill to pay Natalie Kuehler - the highly skilled, courageous and hard-working attorney who brought us this victory.

Fly fishers meet

The Methow Valley Fly Fishers Club will meet at 3 Bears Café in Winthrop on Nov. 19, in the upstairs conference room. A club social starts at 6:15 p.m., followed by club business, Tips & Tactics, and a presentation by Charlie Snow, fish and wildlife biologist for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife on ice fishing and rules for whitefish fishing on the Methow. Fly Fishers Club meets

The Methow Valley Fly Fishers Club will meet on July 16 at 3 Bears Café in Winthrop, in the upstairs conference room, starting at 6:15 p.m. The meeting includes a presentation by Chad Jackson, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Region 2 fish program manager, who will talk about the permits needed to fish on Upper Columbia waters that hold endangered species.
