How much can the F-22A Raptor produce per year?
During its production run, The F-22A Raptor had a maximum production rate of about 20 aircraft per year. This rate was achieved by Lockheed Martin at its production facilities, where the various components of the aircraft were assembled. The production rate fluctuated over the years due to budget constraints, changing defense priorities, and the overall cost of the program.
Ultimately, production was capped at 195 aircraft (187 operational F-22As and 8 test and development aircraft) when the program was halted in 2011. The decision to cease production was largely driven by the high cost of the aircraft, which was around $150 million per unit, and the shifting focus of the U.S. military towards other priorities, including the development of the F-35 Lightning II program.
