"My sister and her boyfriend were visiting. We got high and we half-baked a plan to while away the winter months somewhere sunny. ‘Why not Hawaii?’ Why not indeed"

Amir Yashai discusses her time spent in Hawai'i.

It was 3:30am when I booked my flight to Honolulu. The leaves were just starting to turn, marking what should have been the second month of my second year of journalism school. I’d dropped out immediately after first year in favour of ‘seeing the wor

"While there, I heard how another travelling Oxford student had quickly become for a period the face of China’s bestselling ‘Tsingtao’ beer, and another group of students had been given on-screen roles on ‘China Star’, a hugely popular X-Factor equivalent."

Oliver Wu discusses his time and experiences in Sanlitun, one of Beijing's trendiest districts.

Immaculate white Lamborghinis staffed by smartly-dressed chauffeurs, boredly waiting for their passengers to return. A cavernous nightclub with red-carpet entrances and marble floors that vibrate to the sound of Shakira, Katy Perry or Lady Gaga’s lat

"Wearing 3D glasses in an underground carpark, transfixed by vivid drone footage shot from inside a firework display, the explosions intermingled with hyperlapses of dancing flora whilst an Anton Ellis sample loops, booming through the cavernous space—this wasn’t just consuming art."

Shakeel Hashim discussed the Hayward Gallery's new video installations

In a normal art gallery, video often fails to engage. It’s time consuming and effortful, and stands in stark contrast to the blitz-through method…

"In the case of the Rijksmuseum, their choice to change the titles of certain paintings is a troubling one, notably because it removes their implicit involvement in a history of perpetuated racism and slavery."

Elise Bell discusses the art world's reaction to safe space culture.

“Is art ever safe?”

This was what came to mind when lecturer, Dr Lucy Weir asked students to put up their hand if they felt uncomfortable when looking at an image on the screen.

The image in question was a still from Shigeko Kubota’s “Vagina Pa

"Aside from your other under-researched points, you make one further critical error of judgement in your reference to Gombrich and Clark as the ‘last greats.’ Though they were both important thinkers, their focus is both “Western-centric” and as pointed out, “male-centric;” much like your own it seems."

Walking through MoMA, you will encounter an object of exquisite beauty. It is a carefully proportioned cuboid of glassy transparency, with a circular form at its core echoed by the indentation on its side.

It is a sticky tape dispenser.

Fionn Montell-Boyd explores the presence of 'nonart' in art galleries.
