Going Deeeeep
I’m really proud of and excited about this image. This is the result of an experiment at home where I decided to see how much detail I could bring out in Orion by taking it all the way to 30 minute exposures with careful tracking for an entire night. I used a “fast” scope with a very wide field of view to pull in as much as possible. I also took a set of short 60 sec exposures and combined them into the main image using an HDR technique to avoid blowing out the details in the brightest areas.
I find myself getting lost exploring the details of the structure, marveling at how segments go from dark primordial gas and dust to ignite into hotbeds of new star formation. I find this area of the sky to be incredibly beautiful, and love seeing this huge range of detail. What do you think?
You can find all of my new work on Instagram or Facebook . I hope you enjoy it!
