Drosera Capensis

Sticky sticky sticky!

Cape Sundew Typical and Alba enjoying some insect snacks! Cape sundew leaves will curl around larger prey and begin to secret digestive enzymes to break it down. With larger, juicer bugs this sometimes results in the plant ‘drooling’. This is especially dramatic when feeding your plant non-bugs, chocolate is especially dramatic choice to experiment with. If you choose to experiment with non-insect food items, make sure to only feed it a small amount as this can result in mold, and mold = bad! 😜

Fun fact: Alba cape sundews turn pink in strong light!

S. Leucophylla

Plant grown from seed collected in Sumpter County, Georgia, as part of a conservation program to preserve unique genetics. Unfortunately the plant population these seeds were harvested from is now a parking lot. 😔😡🤬😢
