Murmur design editor Kristin Warholak won a classroom award and Kismet photographer Hannah Gebstadt took home a Sparty award at the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association summer journalism workshop this week. 12 members of the video, yearbook, and newspaper staffs were there getting ready for a big year of journalism at Kettering!

As a part of the Operation Gratitude Letter Writing Project, Waterford students and community members wrote a total of 6,975 letters. The letters, drawings, stories and good wishes are on their way to California where they will be sent to deployed soldiers stationed all around the world.

The WKHS Journalism Department's own Christian Kettenbeil (WKHS-TV) and Dixon Darlington (Kismet) were named as a part of the MIPA Student Journalist Staff. Kettenbeil was also named Student Journalist of the Year for the state of Michigan. We are so honored to have these students in our program. Congrats.

Students wore shirts with words on them to promote reading and the First Amendment. This was part of Kettering's celebration of Scholastic Journalism Week.
