Three companion discs to No Fun's deluxe re-issue of The Beatles of Surrey (on Atomic Werewolf) are coming soon in the form of 3 CD known together as No Fun Must Pass, but each also have separate stand-alone titles (and reversible covers to suit your conceptual preference). Disc 1 is The Beatles of Surrey (3), which is directly in the mold of the Deluxe set. Disc 2 is A Word from Our Sponsor – which is probably not worth elaborating on here, but those who've seen more than one No Fun live show will probably understand what this entails. Disc 3 is Women In Rock – a *theme* show deep-dive previously under-represented by pervious No Fun releases/limited releases. It will be available as a stand-alone 3-CD set and bundled with the deluxe The Beatles of Surrey set (which is currently available on its own. SOON!

We've been so wrapped up with this week's No Fun: The Beatles of Surrey excitement this week with the return of The Rich Folk Festival and surprise drop of a Greatest Hit LP on Atomic Werewolf, that we forgot to mention the new Field In Stream album – The Ambient Guide To The Great Outdoors. Really egghead ambient music mixed with field recordings. That's 3 albums this year from Phil Dole's FiS with another coming in October.

The MELVIN/Clonography project is complete. Add in two discs of MARY stuff and we’ve almost got a viable box set’s worth of early material. Apparently Six Inches was only reissued on cassette, so I suppose that would need to be on CD to be in the box. Maybe another disc of obscure early stuff. And of course, a booklet of some sort. Then that 1984-94 decade will be summed up. Then onto post “retirement” reissues (and some unreleased stuff from the LA years).

Our fourth (official) imprint Atomic Werewolf has been rocking the No Fun back catalog one release a month with no signs of stopping any time soon. It’s not all No Fun all the time, but it’s mostly No Fun most of the time. And I especially urge those outside the lower mainland of British Columbia to dip your toe into a world you have most likely missed. Sample at Bandcamp. Physical copies available through Bandcamp. Stream it where you stream stuff if you’re one of those streamy people.

Label formed in 2022 with the primary mission of doing No Fun and David M-related re-issues. But not exclusively, others will recruited and exploited (mwuah-ah-ah).

(1) The Ambient Water & Power Guide (2) Chicago 2005 (3) The Ambient Guide To The Great Outdoora (4) The Ambient Guide To Mexico, Volume 2 (5) Atmosphere Volume 1 (as Isolation Division). All from Secular Pineapple.

PROJECT MELVIN continues with Volume X1 dropping next week (2/17, yes, that's a Saturday, nobody drops on a Saturday – don't ask). MELVIN is the 8-hour updating and expanding of the 3-hour Clonography compilations that were initially released in the early 2000s of Deviant/Deviant & The Clones-related demo cassette material from the 80s and early 90s. Volume X1 features raw and exciting sounds from the first four Deviant & The Clones cassette demo albums: Animal Man (1985), Sin (1986), Futura Bold (1986), and Still Cloning Around (1987). Available as two CD volumes, or a single Bandcamp digital edition that includes NINE bonus tracks not available elsewhere. And yes, it'll stream on the streaming platforms.

Volumes Y & Z are already out there (The Modiste Originals demos, and three Deviant & The Clones demo albums from the 90s). Volume X2 is in the works, the first part containing demos from 1988-90, and a second part containing Deviant acoustic demos from 1985-95.

Smells like there may have to be a box set at some point. But just Melvin, or including full Deviant bands 1987-2017?
