We're so excited to show you this early trailer for BESTIES! This film represents some of the best work we've ever done, and we are humbled and grateful for the group of talented craftspeople we were able to assemble to support this insane and deeply personal project.

If you're excited by what you see here, please feel free to donate to our fundraiser. It ends this weekend so there's not much time left!

We're VERY excited to reveal the poster for our latest short film, BESTIES! We're incredibly proud of this dark, funny, unexpectedly moving film, and we can't wait to show it to you all. In the meantime, we need your help! Our fundraiser is almost 50% funded, and we could really use the help finishing up the film and making it everything it could be. If you want to be part of Mirandum's best narrative project yet, that's the best way you can help!

We're so excited to finally share this teaser with you (the film will debut at the end of the month)!

Conceived and shot over the summer of 2022, DRY DROWNING is a short psychological thriller set on the shores of the Outer Banks. A creative collaboration between Mike Powell and Cassandra Clare (who also stars), the award-winning film has been touring festivals in 2023 - most recently at DC Shorts International Film Festival - and will release online this Thanksgiving weekend.

"I’m tremendously proud to share this film. So much love went into the entire process and I couldn’t be more grateful for such an inspiring creative team."
- Cassandra Clare

"Reuniting with the team to make the climax of this film (our first since Covid) was a beautiful and challenging experience - my hope is that viewers will feel the same after watching it, so I'm excited to finally share it."
- Mike Powell

What have we been up to? Finishing up a short film, that's what! In a secluded seaside town, a grieving woman fleeing a sudden tragedy must fight for her survival when she senses a presence pursuing her.

Co-written/directed by Cassandra Clare and Mike Powell and lensed by Jacqui Ris, DRY DROWNING is a short psychological thriller that has been in the works for 9 months, and is being sent off to try its luck at festivals right now.

We'll be posting more updates soon, but in the meantime, enjoy this poster!

Halloween is a special holiday for filmmaking, and it's often provided a creative jolt here at Mirandum over the years. This year that inspiration arrives in two different flavors.

We are excited to present an experimental short film that Mike directed and Jacob Schwartz shot in a previous October, an adaptation of a quietly reflective, Halloween-themed poem by the NY-based writer Jess Linnett (https://www.jessicalinnett.com/new-gallery/). First in a planned series, now showing: Little Ghosts - vimeo.com/370168034

We're also excited to announce that we just wrapped principal photography this week on an ambitious Halloween short film of the fun and scary variety. Assembling a dynamite cast from across the country and bringing in the Hollywood blockbuster VFX team at Digicore, this film - directed by Colin J. Mason, lensed by Jacqui Ris- was an absolute blast to shoot and we can't wait to share it.

Look where we are! Filmapalooza 2019!!

Filmapalooza is the finale festival for the 48 Hour Film Project in which the winning films from cities worldwide (150 cities as of 2018) are screened the following year and compete with each other for awards. It has existed since 2003. Filmapalooza is hosted by a different city each year and this year it's in Orlando, Florida.

Our 48-hour film 'Black Box' was a huge success and won us the "Best Film" award (among others) for Washington, D.C., and has placed us among the 150 cities that compete worldwide for elite status in this festival (and the opportunity to go to Cannes).

We're all happy to be here and hopeful that the awards continue rolling in (of course). This is such a big, big deal for us! Sad that the rest of the crew on set couldn't make it, but you all are in our thoughts and the film wouldn't be what it is without each and every one of you!

We'll keep you updated!

2018 was an eventful year for our company. We experienced a lot of growth, a lot of new opportunities, and growing pains. But as a result, our collection of work is far more diverse, exciting, weird, colorful and just plain cool than it ever has been before. We hope you enjoy this little taste of just a few of the things we did in 2018. https://vimeo.com/308693127

Just in time for Christmas, Black Box is featured as a Daily Short Pick on FilmShortage.com and our Director, Colin J. Mason, does nothing short of gifting his appreciation to every person responsible for our film's tremendous success.

Have a look here:

“Black Box” tells the story of a girl who wakes up in a derelict warehouse with no memory of who she is or what she needs to be doing, with only a series of written instructions and a ticking timer as her guide.

RESULTS ARE IN:

The judges have deliberated on the selection of the 2018 Washington DC 48 Hour Film Project (Horror and Sci-Fi) winners. Awards were determined for 30 categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Writing, Acting Awards and more. The award holder for Best Film will go on to represent Washington, DC at Filmapalooza 2019 and vie for Best 48HFP Film of 2018.

💪And WE GOT IT!!!💪

Guys, we are so stoked to announce six awards this year, all of which (in our humble opinions) are the ones that make us stand out among the competition- and I guess the judges agree.

Here's the rundown:
*Best Film (Heyo, Mirandum)
*Best Directing (Colin J. Mason)
*Best Cinematography (Jacob Schwartz)
*Best Art Direction/Production Design (Jessica Siegert, Eric Nielson, Benjamin Schwartz)
*Best Special Effects/Visual Effects (Anthony Pilon/Jacob Schwartz)
*Best Monster (Anthony Pilon)

Not without the passion and diligent effort of our entire crew, volunteers, actor(s), family, friends, and everything in between, would this have been possible. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to each and every person who had a hand in us finally, after six different 48 Hour Projects, getting a BEST FILM. Those specifically not mentioned: Yasha Langer, Paris Kyle, Mike Powell, and Shelton Hall. Without all of you, this wouldn't be a possibility!

We always joke that we're a bit crazy for taking this project on. But, you know what? I think it really presses us to pull out our best talents, to think sharply, and to work together more efficiently. Not only does this make for a great 48 Hour film, but also really hones us in to renewed focus for future projects.

Aside from that, crazy keeps things interesting, am I right?

See you at the next 48, film lovers, and we're on our way to Filmapalooza in March!
