We found this Hentz Striped Scorpion (Centruroides hentzi) yesterday on our walk, it is the smallest and most common of our Florida scorpions. This nocturnal is an arachnid, just like spiders, mites and ticks. Scorpions have been around since before the dinosaurs, in fact, they have remained basically the same for hundreds of millions of years! Young are born live and stay on their mother's back until their exoskeleton gets strong and hard!
