I really enjoyed this comic showing the ways younger adults are coping—and cooking —with quarantine and isolation in China. Kinda gave me the feels about what the Internet can really do and be for people seeking connection.

Well I made an executive decision this week and decided to move my podcast recording days to Wednesdays! I think it’ll be good for me to flow from working NCBD retail to then recording right after work while I’m still hopped up on that new comic smell. 😜 So if you’re wondering where Episode 5 is... it’s literally on my desk(top) rn being edited! It’s... Episode 4! And it’s only a week late! 😅 But oh man, we really pack it on with this one, and somehow still keep it under 35 minutes. So much to catch up on! Wizard adventures, dog modeling, and book releases including the Batmens, Punisher, X-Man, and more. Plus, a shout out to the amazing Dana Thompson, Rest In Power. And we learn a hard lesson about summoning the power of Mercury retrograde while recording a podcast (don’t do it unless you want your audio to cut out). Restocked my favourite face-cleansing duo today: oil cleanser and face scrub from Muji. The oil cleanser is a great first step that lifts grime, sweat, and makeup* away from your skin while also providing hydration. Then the face scrub is a really creamy foaming exfoliator that cleans off the day and preps for whatever your next step is (I move on to moisturizers). *If you wear heavy makeup you should probably still use a makeup remover first to minimize scrubbing! I love Muji products for being so neutrally packaged and affordable... $23 for this combo! I think everyone should try oil cleansers but that’s just because they’ve worked so well for me! Plus using it feels like giving your face a massage. 🤤

Hi I finally watched the first two episodes of Swamp Thing and now I too am quite sad about it being cancelled! They’ve really captured Wrightson’s design, and I can’t begin to tell you how stoked I am on this show’s Madame Xanadu (played by Jaryl Prescott)... and her beautiful tarot deck! 😍 I guess all we can do is hope that by the end of the first season we feel closure in the story, or maybe if we’re lucky DC will change their mind... 🤞

Frankenstein’s Comic Swap haul from this past weekend! First up, this truly lovely Sienkiewicz cover on Punisher #93. Then Deadman Exorcism #1 (of 2), with art by Kelley Jones (and now I have to find #2!). I also came across a solid chunk of Punisher Armory, which I only ever seem to find and on, so I had to grab that up! “Killer - tales by Timothy Truman” looks ridiculous and I’ll have to show you guys more from it cuz it’s... something else. Lastly, Punisher: No Rules Parts I and II with art by Frank Teran. PLUS I also picked up some fresh roasted coffee from one of my regular customers who’s been roasting his own coffee for years, and it’s delicious! After the swap I went down to one of my local dives and reviewed over a pint of Culmination Brewing’s Sour Flower, which was a lovely cap to the day. Always fun to dig through some bins!! @ Portland, Oregon

My pulls have been so light lately I’ve only picked up 5 comics over these past two weeks, and one of them is a reprint variant! I went with the Capullo cover to Batman LKoE, but it was hard to choose between that and Jock’s. And yeah, had to get the Faithless #1 Erotic Variant second printing, because it’s a completely different artist and I *did* say I was going to collect them all! 😅 Also I’ll be talking about Thumbs and Batman Last Knight on Earth on my next episode, so keep your eyes out for that next week!
