We’re thrilled to announce that local music legend, Shaun Evans is kicking off live music for us on Saturday 2nd September! He’ll be dropping by from 12-1, so get ready for some funky blues 🙌

Shaun has been a staple of the local music scene for close to 20 years and is the founder of Bloo Coo Records. He released his most recent solo album “White Feather” in 2020. You can currently catch him gigging here there and everywhere with Cornfield Chase

The Magic Voodoo Lounge were such a promising band that sadly only got together one EP and a handful of gigs!

Once I heard my friends were getting together to form this heavy rock band, I just KNEW it would be epic! I actually started recording with them in a rehearsal space and my bedroom studio at the time, but before we got too far the band won a competition to record an EP at the amazing S9Fifty studio in Glenrothes.

The result was this thunderous, riff-bonanza of an EP. Some of the best musicians to come out of Fife are on these recordings, in my opinion. Love to hear it loud!

Magic Voodoo Lounge was a 5 piece progressive metal band that was formed by immensely talented students. Listen now on Bloo Coo.

If you were lucky enough to catch The White Van Fugitives live, then Im sure youll agree that they were AWESOME!

I was always in awe of these talented musicians and even without a singer the songs never failed to take you on a journey!

I was so happy that I got to record this EP with the band in their early stages. The band were so humble they considered this a demo until I convinced them to release it.

Recorded live in a stuffy attic rehearsal room with a very basic recording set up, then mixed by Kamihamiha!

I love revisiting these recordings to go back to sitting on that attic floor, on a blazing hot summer day, with a pair of headphones on vibing to the jams going on around me ❤

Davie Saus has been a local legend long before I ever had the chance to put a few microphones up in front of him. At first I noticed the loud and jolly crowd that seemed to follow Davie everywhere he went. Before long everyone ends up part of that crowd chanting "Davie Saus, Davie-Davie Saus, na-na-na-na..." and I was no exception.

I was hooked on his humble melodies and thoughtful lyrics. Im really proud that some of his music is part of the Bloo Coo discography.

Davies first contribution to Bloo Coo was for the Solstice album. It was the early days of the label and I wanted a compilation album to showcase some of my favourite local artists. So he came round to record a few songs in my bedroom.

It was then a few years later that Davie brought an entire album to me, produced by Paul Hollywood, that became See You Everywhere. His songs had been given a full band makeover, bringing a whole new dimension to the sound of Saus. Inevitably a live band was formed to play his songs.

Saus and the Secret Soulmates had some serious talent, which really complimented Davies timeless songs. I had the pleasure of bringing the band into the studio space I was running in Leslie at the time and recorded the summery rock single Good Morning People!

If youre reading this and have never heard Saus before, then you are welcome!

I hope Davie Saus brings the same joy to your ears as it does mine!

Im going to share some of the artists featured on Bloo Coo Records, I hope you take some time to check them out!

So Im starting with myself, Shaun Evans. Bloo Coo is my own personal corner of the internet, a platform where I express myself through music.

Im passionate about music and I aim to create something unique for the listener, drawing on influences of various genres including punk, blues, grunge, funk, noise and jazz.

I needed an independent outlet that would allow me to experiment freely and publish music that I enjoyed. So I started Bloo Coo Records.

My early albums had an element of lo-fi rawness that was partly to compliment my punk guitar laden songs and partly due to having basic equipment.

Ive since dabbled in heavy grunge as well as stripped back blues.

Im guitarist and bassist for several bands and Im currently working on a funky rock album with lots of bluesy undertones...

Shaun Evans is the head honcho at Bloo Coo Records and has worked on almost all of the releases at the recording studio.

This means that Bandcamp will not be taking a cut of any sales that are made on Bancamp TOMORROW.

I have never before asked asked you to take part in BANDCAMP FRIDAY, but I am NOW! If there was something that you thought about purchasing before but didn't, or if you always fancied one of our CDs/vinyl then TOMORROW is the time to do it!

So I've been catching up on a couple years of neglected admin (no joke) and it's good to see our music still being streamed on the regular!

All these streaming pennies will go a long way to help fund some future releases, so thank you for listening on behalf of all our artists! (p.s. artists, I'll make some overdue payments very soon.)
