Lets share a little history of 'International Mother Language Day' 21st February. Its related to the history of the Independence of Bangladesh. Before 16 December,1971,Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan and present Pakistan as west Pakistan. It happened that the then west Pakistan govt. wanted to establish Urdu as the state language.Beluchistan and the then east pakistan opposed.A flame of protest was raised throughout East PAKISTAN.Eventually on 21st February,1951 police fired on a protesting procession of students. As a result many died on spot. Those bodies were taken and buried secretly by the govt. After that the situation went beyond control. Finally, the govt. was forced to reinstate Bangla as the state language.Afterwards UN declared 21st february as the official 'International Mother Language Day' honouring the sacrifice of Bangali People and creating a sense of love for all other languages around the world.By the way this post doesn't pose any malicious speech because present Bangladesh and Pakistan are now two friendly countries and member of SARC.And the citizens of both country have mutual respect and brotherhood. Thanks for reading.
