With the hobby of cosplaying becoming more accessible to the masses through representation and access to readily made costumes, the hobby has expanded to have talents who create their own renditions of the character they're acting as.

In a batch interview with Shamisashimii Heyhey and Lyn Rosehearts during the second day of Anime & Cosplay Expo last July 21, they further cemented that cosplaying is more on knowing and portraying the character's personality and that costumes and wears should be up to the person if it makes them comfortable and happy.

LOOK: Pop Culture fans convened on this year's Anime Cosplay Expo (ACX) where crowds gathers to support local businesses, talents, and create new memories on its second day. The recently concluded event occurred last July 20-21 at the SMX Convention Center where it included the appearances of Vtubers under VOLs and the announcement for Cosplay Mania's Japanese Anime Music concert.

LOOK: Participants of the recently concluded Ozine Pre-Tanabata Special which commenced on July 21 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay showcased their emotions and joys on browsing anime merchandise and meeting new people during its second day.

The Pre-Tanabata Special aimed to be a prelude to the upcoming Tanabata Festival which will commence at August 31 to September 1 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall.

Heads Up Milcosers!

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has announced the extension of the gun ban in the National Capital Region from July 20 until July 22. The ban is in preparation and security precautions for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s third State of the Nation Address.

Attendees of the upcoming Pre-Tanabata Special and Anime Cosplay Expo are advised not to bring any gun props due to the announcement.

In our batch interview for Plannercon 2024 which commenced at June 29, Kūhaku Media asked two exhibitors of the event on their thoughts about the theme "Destash to Restash." Riz replied that journaling makes her way to speak and express herself, especially that sometimes we should learn to speak to ourselves and be alone. She also added that journaling is a form of art just like tattoo's where everything you do has meaning.

As June ends, the fight continues for equality and representation for the q***r community.

In our batch interview at the recently concluded Plannercon on June 29, Kūhaku Media had the opportunity to interview some attendees who identify within the spectrum to understand their thoughts on the representation of the q***r community through art and art conventions.

Raffy Perez and Anna (alias) both shared that events like Plannercon allow the community to thrive and represent itself in creative ways, enabling them to become more open and feel more appreciated by the general public.

Marjon (alias), another respondent who did not consent to video documentation, added that events like Plannercon are a step toward progress for the community by making such events available and accessible to the public.
