By Dr Clement Waine

The foreign occupying powers want Prime Minister James Marape out of office because he signed MOU with MCC/Ramu NiCo for copper and nickel/cobalt smelting in the country.

This MOU kick starts the wheels of industrialization.

The foreign forces do not like PNG to rise to the next level of economic growth, and they are using all their powers within our own systems to derail the wheels of industrialization from spinning.

All gullible PNGeans masquerading as intellectuals must know this single fact and stop beating their drums.

Marape MUST stay back as PM, and we will all spin this wheel of industrialization that was already set in motion.

I will tell you a story; it may help or not, but at least I am trying to convince you and others out there.

In 2007, Marape became MP for Tari-Pori and became Minister for Education in Somare government.

He dreamed of the concept of the National Schools of Excellence. He brought the submission to NEC, a meeting held in Wabag in 2009, and Cabinet endorsed his idea. It took the country a decade to realise his dream.

In 2019, I translated his dream into reality with the National Schools of Excellence Policy and introduced STEM Education.

We graduated 203 pioneer STEM students in 2022 and 303 in 2023.

We enrolled 43 in USA universities.

This single policy is setting PNG on a different trajectory.

The USA universities want more PNG STEM students, and we are planning to send another 100 this year.

I am now in China, as I am typing. I met different VPs and Directors of International Relations of several universities, and I have just secured another 30 spaces for PNG STEM Students for Fall Semester (September) this year.

Marapeโ€™s dream for INDUSTRIALIZATION will happen, and letโ€™s make it work!

Letโ€™s keep Marape there as PM and have a fighting chance at breaking free from the shackles of debt and foreign domination.

The STEM Education broke the back of foreign colonization of our education system that is creating mediocre students who are not fit for purposes.

WITH STEM EDUCATION, WE DID IT OUR WAY AND REACHED FOR THE STARS!

We will do it again with the MOU on Industrial Development.

Stop carrying water for foreign powers.

Time to rise up and show our middle fingers at them by keeping Marape there.

I donโ€™t care whether this is popular or not. It is the right thing for the country!

Time for INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENTS is here.

PRIME MINISTER HON.JAMES MARAPE QUEST FOR "TAKE BACK PNG" IN HIS MAIDEN SPEECH WASN'T A MISTAKE.

The Marape-Rosso government will be etched in history for its resolute stance on ensuring greater benefits for Papua New Guinea from our resource projects. Much like the landmark reforms of the Mereke era in State-Owned Enterprises, Prime Minister James Marape's tenure is distinguished by his unwavering commitment to securing fairer gains for our landowners and the nation at large.

Upon assuming office in 2019, PM Marapeโ€™s immediate priority was to renegotiate the contentious Papua LNG deal. His determined efforts resulted in additional benefits for PNG setting a new standard for resource agreements. Furthermore, Marape's administration demonstrated unprecedented leadership by securing a 33% free carry ownership for OK Tedi landowners and the Fly River Provincial Government in the aftermath of expropriations imposed by the previous government. Unlike his predecessor (PO), who stripped away 67% of ownership and even sought payments from landowners, Marapeโ€™s approach ensured that they were provided their rightful share, only subject to applicable Stamp Duty Charges.

Marapeโ€™s bold decision to halt operations at the Porgera mine, thereby securing a 51% ownership for the nation, stands as a testament to his take-back-PNG policy. This majority share is divided among various PNG stakeholders, including the state-owned K*mul Minerals Holdings, the Enga Provincial Government, and the local landowners. Barrick Gold and its partner Zijin Mining retained a 49% equity stake in the mine. Porgera has slowly resumed operating.

Similarly, the negotiation outcomes for the Pโ€™nyang and Wafi-Golpu projects, where more than 55% was secured, surpass historical norms and legislative thresholds set by the Mining Act and the Oil and Gas Act, which traditionally allowed for only 30% and 22.5% equity, respectively. No previous government has exceeded these limits, highlighting the exceptional achievement of the Marape-Rosso government.

The Marape-Rosso administrationโ€™s policies underscore a significant shift towards national ownership and benefit, reinforcing Papua New Guineaโ€™s sovereignty over its resources. These actions exemplify decisive leadership, demonstrating a commitment to prioritizing national interest over external pressures. As we look forward, it is imperative to continue this trajectory, particularly in reviewing and potentially renegotiating agreements like those of Ramu Nickel and Lihir, which have been notably unfavorable.

In this critical juncture, Papua New Guinea needs steadfast leaders like Marape who will not bow to foreign influences but will champion our national interests. We commend the Marape-Rosso government for its courageous leadership and anticipate further positive strides in securing our nationโ€™s rightful share from our abundant resources.

All the cowards and power hungry politicians trying to remove him, you will not succeed. We the people of PNG has spoken in 2022 Elections by returning little over 40 for Pangu Pati.

He will rule until 2027 and mark my word, we will return him back to Parliament with much bigger number. All the isolated communities now connected by ConnectPNG, all the students from poor parents whose school fees are paid, all the cancer patients get treated at POM Get Cancer facilities, all the 200, 000 people and families touched by K20, 000 tax reliefs, all the people now benefiting from his K200m SME support, all the Christians will rally behind him for partnering with Israel and declaring PNG as a Christian Nation, and you name it will be Panguโ€™s back bone.

We know Pangu through Somare has founded PNG and gave us Political independent and we trust Pangu through Marape and Rosso leadership will give us Economic.

The Marape-Rosso government has taken significant steps to secure greater benefits for Papua New Guinea from its resource projects.

WHY IS THE OPPOSITION TRYING TO POLITIZE AND CHANGE MARAPE ROSSO GOVERNMENT WHO IS OVERWHELMING DOING EVERYTHING TO CHANGE THE POLITICAL LANDSCAPE OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA EXTRACTIVE RESOURCES BENEFITS AGREEMENT AND TAKE BACK MORE FOR PAPUA NEW GUINEA.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA CITIZENS SHOULD RAISE UP AND PROTEST THE OPPOSITION CAMP TRYING TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE THE AGENDAS OF INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION IN DILUTING AND DEPLETION OUR EXTRACTIVE RESOURCE BENEFITS.

*SHAMEFUL POTBELLY POLLIES*

A large government delegation is currently in Japan. Pictured today is a bilateral meeting between the two governments.

On the right is Japanese prime minister with his cabinet officials, who are all visibly slim and healthy. Probably all below 85kgs.

Meanwhile, on the left are PNGs potbelly, overweight and obese ministers and officials. All are large and fat, easily 100kgs+.

Jelta Wong, Justin Tkatchenko, James Marape, John Boito, and the Secretaries for PM& NEC and Foreign Affairs.

A study in European Parliaments found that fatter politicians correlate with poorer government servitude and corruption. Corrupt politicians spend more time eating, drinking and spending money on their unhealthy lifestyle while decent politicians take care of their health and the wellbeing of their constituents.

*NEW FACES IN MARAPEโ€™S CLOWN CABINET: PART 1 OF 3*

Sunday, 14 July 2024

Last week, the government tried to divert attention from the Oppositionโ€™s 15-man tour of the Highlands region with an unplanned cabinet announcement.

The move even caught PANGUโ€™s Deputy Leader of Highlands, Hon. William Powi, off guard. While having lunch in Western Pacific University, Hon. Powi reportedly told reporters, โ€œMi no save lo displa na ol mekim.โ€

Governor Powi was also unaware of the intention to appoint Wapenamanda MP Miki Kaeok as Finance Minister - one of the highest ranking officials in NEC.

The decision to appoint Kaeok, who is also a PANGU MP, appears to have been a decision made solely by Marape by all accounts.

But as usual, a big annoucement with big disappointment.

Outside of the widely unknown and inexperienced Miki Kaeokโ€™s appointment, the next big surprise was Vanimo Green MP Belden Namahโ€™s return to cabinet after 15 years.

The man who described James Marape as a โ€˜cargo cult leaderโ€™ and described PANGU Pati in the 2022 general elections as a โ€˜dead partyโ€™ is now in the Pangu-Marape cabinet.

Yes, Namah is a former deputy prime minister, former forestry minister and once a force to be reckoned with, but it appears his popularity remains in the past.

Namah is now Minister for Tourism, hardly the welcome back present to cabinet the former DPM was expecting.

The question on everyoneโ€™s mind was why wasnโ€™t Namah given something more serious? Finance, perhaps?

But it all boils down to party politics, not popularity. Kaeok is of course, a PANGU MP.

To the dismay of others in PANGU and government, Namah is the one who called on important figures like Tkatchenko, Wong, Stuckey and others to resign, and has said he would investigate many others through the OC. The โ€˜lone wolfโ€™ is now in the hens den.

And then thereโ€™s the issue of numbers, that the inner sanctum of PANGU MPs are confused about. The coalition agreement for cabinet has always been the 3:1 ratio. But Belden is a โ€˜one man armyโ€™โ€ฆ where are his numbers? Is Marape being too nice to try squeeze in former enemies and over look the longstanding supporters?

Moving on to the next blow, Kandep MP Don Polye is now battered and bewildered. Like Namah, he was once a force to be reckoned with in the world of PNG Politics. Now it appears heโ€™s nothing but an afterthought to James Marape and the tribe.

The obvious question everyone asks is why did Marape regift Dr Kobby Bomareo with the Housing Ministry after decommissioning him, but couldnโ€™t do the same for Polye?

Isnโ€™t Polye a senior MP in PANGU Pati? He was also a former Deputy PM, Opposition Leader, and a very astute gentleman. He would make a fine Finance Minister, or at the very least, continue the good work in the Higher Education Ministry.

It appears Donโ€™s stint in government is short lived.

These are just three out of the five appointments yet the undercurrents are clear.

Marape rewards enemies not friends.

Marape appoints cronies not capable leaders.

And Marape is cleaning house (government coffers) for one final swan song.

PRESS RELEASE

Government to Investigate East New Britain Palm Oil Limited..
Port Moresby, July 12, 2024- Minister for International Trade and Investment, Hon. Richard Maru today announced that the National Government will be investigating the East New Britain Palm Oil Limited. This is following numerous complains from the oil palm farmers that they had to stopped selling palm oil to this Malaysian company for over nine weeks now because they have been consistently paid K16 for a ton of palm oil in the last ten years. They claim that the company has been robbing them when they compare the price, they have been getting to what the farmers in West New Britain are getting up to about K500 per metric ton when prices are very high in the global market as is the case today.

Minister Maru stated: โ€œI am not happy with this oil palm company. When the farmers do not sell the oil palm the country will not generate exports. In the last ten years the average global price for palm oil stood at USD886 per metric ton and New Britain Palm Oil report in 2022 confirmed that the farm gate price of palm oil was over K800 per ton. Whilst there have been changes in palm oil price in the world market leading to changes in the the farm gate prices, the East New Britain Palm Oil Limited have been paying the farmers in the Gazelle Peninsular only K16 per ton for the last ten years and totally ripping off our people. This is a very serious matter. This company needs to be investigated. We cannot have foreign companies behaving like this as our people claim. They could have been robbing them of millions of kina. While this is what the farmers are claiming, the National Government has to do an investigation to hear both sides and look at how we can resolve this problem in the long term. I am also getting similar complaints from other farmers and landowners from other oil palm project areas around the country so we will not hesitate to extend the investigation to other areas. The complains from the Kokopo and Gazelle farmers may be just the tip of the iceberg on the rot in the industry when it comes to landowner benefits from the development on their land and their sweat and labor. The Government will have to act so we can get a far better package to encourage our people to free up land for oil palm development.โ€

Minister Maru said the Marape-Rosso Government will not take these complains from the oil palm farmers lightly and assured them that the Government will act immediately.

โ€œI will be working very closely with the Minister for Oil Palm to finalize the terms of reference for the investigation of this company. The investigation team will include a lawyer and a chartered accountant and a global recognized oil palm industry expert who will investigate this company, including the issue of ownership, the different packages they have in place for large-scale palm oil estates, and the land titles as we understand that this company owns none of the land that it is operating on. We are told all the land are owned by the landowners and our people in the province. The team will also compare the benefits to other palm oil growing provinces in the country. These will be part of the investigation,โ€ said Minister Maru.

PNG NEED POLITICAL STABILITY OR CHANGE?*

People of PNG needs to be liberated from being imprisoned by deception that Political Stability is always necessary and not Change.

Yes, it is an undeniable fact that the need for consistent Policy implementation and associated socioeconomic growth necessitates Political Stability. This commonly accepted notion is true in most cases where socioeconomic development indicators are positive.

However, a Change in necessary when socioeconomic development indicators are negative. Repercussions of refusal to Change is detrimental in developing nations like PNG.

At this juncture, Political Stability is not necessary in PNG as development indicators are negative.

Voices of, escalating goods and services prices, forex issues, flight delays, fuel crises etc, are clamoring from all corners of PNG calling for a Political Change.

A Change is needed as a matter of urgency.

THAT IS THE CHANGE PEOPLE NEED! ONLY BLIND CANโ€™T SEE!

PM MARAPE WAS ONCE A CHEQUE BOOK CARRIER FOR 8 YEARS

During the Opposition Highlands tour, Alternate Prime Minister and Party Leader of Our Party Hon Rainbo Paita made shocking claims against Prime Minister James Marape, stating that Marape was once a cheque book carrier for 8 years. Paita said, "There are processes and systems in place which guided me and him. I think Marape may have used the cheque book for his personal gain during his time as the Finance Minister under former Prime Minister Peter O'Neill."

Paita also expressed disappointment in Marape for failing to acknowledge the contributions he made as the former National Planning and Finance Minister to the country. "Let's respect one another," Paita urged, highlighting the need for mutual respect in politics.

Paita criticized Marape for not introducing his new ministers in a more suitable location, suggesting that Marape should have thanked the people of Finschhafen for electing him and for assisting in forming the current government. Paita emphasized that there are processes in place for drawing cheques for service providers, and Marape should not have acted emotionally towards him.

Paita said that Marape should remember who he was and the commitment he showed as a minister. He also pointed out that most Ministers and members of Parliament are aware of his dedication and unquestionable work ethic. Paita said that as the highest CEO of the country, Marape should show more respect and professionalism in his actions.

Police arrest Mr Lawrence Stephens for illegally carrying out capital market regulated activities in Papua New Guinea

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
09-7-2024

Port Moresby, July 09, 2024 โ€“ Mr. James Joshua, Chairman of Taskforce Shield, announced that the National Executive Council is dedicated to safeguarding the investments of Papua New Guineans. In line with this commitment, an inter-agency task force named Taskforce Shield was established in May 2024. The task forceโ€™s primary objective is to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the alleged mismanagement and illegal misappropriation of over K200 million from the Pacific Balance Fund by the former Trustee and Fund Manager, Melanesian Trustee Services Limited.

The Pacific Balance Fund was originally established in 1973 through investments made by Papua New Guineans and is currently one of the largest trust funds in Papua New Guinea. Owned by nearly 20,000 unit holders who are citizens of Papua New Guinea, the fund was created as a commercial unit trust derived from the Investment Corporation Fund of Papua New Guinea during the privatization of state-owned enterprises in 2001.

Mr. Joshua stated that, according to an initial findings by the regulator, the Securities Commission of Papua New Guinea, Taskforce Shield was established. The team has been diligently working towards completing its objectives within a three-month timeframe from the date of its inception. He expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the team.

On July 8, 2024, Taskforce Shield launched its first criminal investigation by apprehending Mr. Lawrence Stephens, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Melanesian Trustee Services Limited. He is accused of failing to transfer control of bank accounts and assets valued at hundreds of millions of kina to the interim trustee appointed by the Securities Commission. Additionally, it is alleged that the suspect was involved in managing cash transactions for Pacific Balance Fundโ€™s subsidiary companies.

The Taskforce Shield, overseen by the Honorable Richard Maru, Minister for International Trade & Investment, is further tasked with initiating comprehensive processes to recover assets belonging to Pacific Balance Fund, both within Papua New Guinea and internationally. The primary objective is to ensure that justice is served to those responsible for these offenses. Despite the enormity of the task at hand and the limited timeframe available, Mr. Joshua emphasized that no excuses will be made. The team is committed to delivering a thorough report on this critical investigation to the National Executive Council by mid-July 2024.

Joshua acknowledged that the task ahead is substantial, and the time frame is limited. However, he emphasized that this would not be an excuse, and the full report on this critical investigation will be submitted to NEC (National Executive Council) by mid-July 2024.

Mr. Joshua expressed his gratitude to Honorable Minister Maru and the Marape Rosso government for their courageous initiative in reclaiming assets rightfully belonging to the ordinary citizens of our country. He emphasized the pivotal role financial institutions will play in our nationโ€™s future, especially as mineral deposits and other non-renewable resources are depleted over time. Mr. Joshua highlighted that our economy can be strengthened through the support of robust financial institutions, underpinned by sound monetary policies and prudent financial management. He pointed out that successful economies worldwide are underpinned by the stability and reliability of their financial institutions.

*The Illusion of Government*

Lately, a lot has been discussed and debated in relation to the VONC and the prospects of a change in government. As prescribed by the constitutions of our country, VONCs serve a purpose if properly invoked and executed with the right intentions.

The provisions of a VONC were installed in the constitution as a fail-safe. A mechanism to halt the continued leadership of an executive government whose policies, implementations and results become less popular and favorable over time.

While the agency of a VONC is crucial for the overall balance and sound progress of our Parliamentary democracy, what is subtler but requires elaborate scrutiny is the context and conditions that give rise to circumstances that necessitate a VONC.

To put things into perspective, allow me to draw an analogy here.

Let us suppose a mother goes to the river to do laundry and fetch water for cooking and drinking. But on arrival, she finds that the water is dirty. And she can neither do laundry nor fetch water for use at home.

The fact that she has to find a new water source for her needs is akin to the need for a VONC. Because the water in its dirty state cannot meet her needs and serve her interest.

Now the poor mother will blame and curse the river for being dirty or polluted โ€œas the water passes her at that pointโ€. She does not care about the reasons why the river is dirty.

Maybe it rained heavily upstream the previous night. Perhaps a damn is under construction further up. All these she does not care for. Her concern is around her immediate needs.

To accuse and become hostile towards a government and prime minister because of the perceived unsatisfactory manner in which it discharges its duty is to blame the river for being dirty when you need it.

We must step back and try to understand why things are the way they are.

Government in PNG is made up of Coalitions in the event a single party does not win enough sits on its own to form government. In this case, Pangu Pati.

Now these smaller parties become power-brokers and king makers. For these entities to amalgamate with Pangu to form government, Pangu must give in to their requests and demands. Whether itโ€™s a ministry, project, CEO/MD or whatever they fancy.

Pangu and PM have to meet their demands or the government collapses. That is the operation of the numbers game in our parliamentary democracy.

Now many will say that is corruption. Well blame our system of government!! Blame the rules, not the player.

Even if a new government comes in, the rules are still the same.

For the Opposition to attract additional numbers in hope of toppling the current government, they will have to entice and lure coalition partners and individuals with the same promises and rewards. Otherwise, Pangu will retain government until 2027 playing by the same rules the system is designed with.

Perhaps it is unwise to criticize the current Pangu led coalition or our good prime minister. He is playing by the rules of the system. He is playing with the cards the system has dealt him. The next PM, if there is a change, will play by the same rules.

Let us pause and understand why the river is dirty instead of just complaining that its dirty. The river doesnโ€™t get dirty because it feels like getting dirty. Thereโ€™s a reason why it becomes dirty or contaminated.

Donโ€™t blame the river โ€“ care to understand what causes it to be dirty. Donโ€™t blame the PM. Take time to understand the rules of the system he or any other PM must circumvent or navigate to ensure he remains as PM to deliver on his vision.

Itโ€™s not a fair world. Itโ€™s called reality. And before you go blaming the player, take time to understand the rules of the game.

Peace to you all

*To all the ass lickers of this PANGU LED Government..*

It is very shameful and public knowledge that you are struggling to praise and protect a government that encourages leaders to break the law.

PANGU Government has clearly send the message to PNG that there is two laws for PNG now.

*A separate and special law that is for MPs in Government only and those who supports the government and there is a separate Law for the opposition MPs and the ordinary PNGans.*

PNGans wake up. The police has been compromised with the introduction of the *Police Special Advisory Committee.*

Sergeant Tinol Pakiapon is the first victim of that committee and this Committee will continue to protect the MPs and other crooked leaders in both public and private space whom are in bed with this PANGU led Government.

As a resident of Kimbe and a dedicated advocate for the rights of Papua New Guineans, I, Pasco Neil, stand in full support of John Pasaoโ€™s commendation of the Marape-Rosso governmentโ€™s transformative approach to resource management. The decisive actions taken by Prime Minister James Marape's administration have redefined our nationโ€™s stance on resource ownership, ensuring that the wealth derived from our land is used to benefit our people more equitably than ever before.

I echo John Pasaoโ€™s sentiments in recognizing PM Marapeโ€™s leadership in renegotiating all the bad deals and negotiating new deals securing bigger and better for the nation is commendable. Those renegotiations were crucial in correcting previous missteps and securing additional benefits for Papua New Guinea, setting a precedent for future resource agreements. Marapeโ€™s commitment to placing the interests of Papua New Guineans at the forefront is a powerful testament to his dedication to our nationโ€™s sovereignty and prosperity.

Marapeโ€™s bold move to temporarily shut down the Porgera mine to secure a 51% ownership stake for Papua New Guinea is a historic achievement that emphasizes his solid dedication to our nationโ€™s interests. The substantial stakes secured in the Pโ€™nyang and Wafi-Golpu projects, exceeding the traditional equity limits set by the Mining Act and Oil and Gas Act, are unprecedented and mark a significant shift towards national ownership of our resources.

For the first time, under the Marape-Rosso government, we see a concerted effort to reclaim control over our natural resources. This governmentโ€™s actions reflect a genuine commitment to the take-back-PNG policy, ensuring that the benefits of our resources are channelled back to our people rather than being disproportionately taken by external interests.

As we look towards the future, I join John Pasao in urging the Marape-Rosso government to continue this bold and transformative approach. Particularly, the need to review agreements like those of Ramu Nickel and Lihir, which have historically been less favorable, remains crucial. Our nation needs leaders like PM Marape and his Deputy Rosso who have the courage to challenge the status quo and prioritize the interests of Papua New Guineans.

I wholeheartedly support John Pasaoโ€™s recognition of the Marape-Rosso governmentโ€™s achievements and join him in commending their continued efforts to secure more equitable benefits from our resource projects. Let us rally behind this leadership that is committed to ensuring a brighter, more prosperous future for all Papua New Guineans.
Todayโ€™s hoohaa stories of Waigani influenced by petty politics is not going to change this country over night. First task on hand for every leader is to take ownership of its wealth and that was lacking in many PMs and Governments in the past. Now we have Marape-Rosso government doing the right thing. PNG must rally behind decisive leaders. PO and his brainwashed lunatics like Samson Komati, David Lepi, Dilu Okuk can go to hell.
