The Prediction Come True!

In the 2024 general elections, John Dramani Mahama of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) emerged victorious, capturing 57% of the total valid votes cast and securing his position as president-elect. This outcome aligns with earlier predictions made by Volta News, a media outlet known for its political foresight. Volta News had also accurately forecasted the unexpected election of Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin as Speaker of Ghana's Parliament, an event that had initially surprised the nation due to its unpredictability.

Mahama's decisive win in the 2024 elections marks a significant shift in Ghana's political landscape. His return to the presidency after a previous tenure indicates a strong desire among the electorate for change and possibly a different approach to governance. The NDC's strategic campaigning and voter engagement efforts were crucial in achieving this victory.

As president-elect, Mahama's administration is expected to bring forth new policies and initiatives aimed at addressing the pressing issues facing the country, signaling a potentially transformative period in Ghana's democratic journey.

Factors Militating Against Teacher Retention At Nyagbo Sroe.
Story by Xorse Wlexor: Miss Perfect Asempah, a dedicated female teacher at Nyagbo Sroe, passionately advocates for improved education and living conditions in her community. Nyagbo Sroe, a small town, faces significant challenges, including a lack of adequate teachers, poor road infrastructure, and limited access to essential social amenities. These issues severely impact the quality of education and the overall well-being of the community.

Miss Asempah emphasizes the urgent need for more teachers to be posted to Nyagbo Sroe, as the existing staff struggle to meet the educational needs of the children. She believes that every child deserves access to quality education, which is fundamental for their growth and development. However, the current shortage of educators makes it difficult to provide effective teaching and learning.

In addition to educational challenges, Miss Asempah highlights the poor state of roads, which not only hinders transportation but also discourages teachers from accepting postings to the area. The lack of social amenities further exacerbates the situation, making Nyagbo Sroe a less attractive destination for professionals.

Miss Asempah calls on the Ministry of Education and relevant stakeholders to address these pressing issues. She urges them to prioritize the deployment of more teachers to the community and to invest in improving infrastructure and amenities. By doing so, the children of Nyagbo Sroe will have a fair chance at quality education and a brighter future. Her dedication and advocacy reflect her unwavering commitment to the welfare of her students and the betterment of her community.

DISGRUNTLED VOTER'S VIEWS ON THE DECEMBER. 7 2024 GENERAL ELECTIONS
Story by: Ametame Ernest and Eugenia Etornam Kpeli

Ghana has been a developing and peaceful country. Citizens elect a leader by voting every four years on December 7. And that leader is entitled to the seat for four years. So in the year 2016, the citizens of the country elected a leader of a party called New Patriotic Party (NPP) and got relected in 2020 general elections. The NPP and its elected president have ruled the country for eight years.

On December 7, 2024 , Ghanaians are once again heading to the polls to peacefully elect a leader as spelt out in the 1992 Constitution, to steer the affairs of the country for the next four years. Some student journalists hit the Ho township to sample the views of some voters towards the December 7, 2024, General elections.

In an interview with a middle aged woman, she expressed her frustration by saying, "the current party is not a good party but rather a bad party. they didn't do anything that benefits the country but rather bring the development of the country down and make things difficult for the citizens in the country. But the other party called, National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a party of hope. Even though they are not in power, they are doing things expected of the party in power to do."
According to the electorate, the current party, has spoiled their children through the free education policy, which means some of the children go hungry and for that matter they go out to chase boys and money and it leads them into unwanted pregnant. Also, the boys are forced to go to school by their parents which the child didn't want to do and this force these boys to join bad gangs in schools.
In addition, the free education policy makes the kids or the students not to buy things from them at the road side. She looks forward to economic revamp when the next party comes to power and hope they should do better and maintain the free education system despite the associated negatives. She also hopes there will continuation of those schools and hospitals left unattended since the current government came into power.

TALES OF HUMAN SACRIFICED CHIEF STOOL AT HO MUSEUM
Story by Pascalyn Gozah and Wise Senyo Hlorwu:

The traditional chief’s stool holds deep cultural and spiritual significance in many African societies, symbolizing the power, authority, and ancestral lineage of the chief. In ancient times, sacrifices, including human offerings, were sometimes made to pacify, cleanse, or prepare the stool, especially during times of war. Such sacrifices were believed to fortify the stool, invoking spiritual protection and ensuring the success of the chief and his people.

In a recent event, the chief’s stool was transferred to the Ho Museum in Ghana. However, before it was delivered, a pastor was reportedly called upon to "deliver" or cleanse the stool. This step aimed to neutralize any lingering spiritual energies associated with its past, ensuring it could be safely displayed without fear of misfortune. Mr. Gilbert Mendah, a tour guide, revealed this intriguing background, highlighting the complex relationship between traditional beliefs and modern practices.

Many believe that the Trade Union Congress leaders, politically connected and benefiting from the illegal activity, have refused to mobilize their members to stop it. Now, only the Volta River remains as a clean, reliable water source for Ghanaians.

African countries banning po*******hy is a strategic move aimed at preserving the mental health of the younger generation, young adults, and society at large. Po*******hy has been linked to various negative psychological effects, including addiction, desensitization to violence, and distorted perceptions of sexual relationships. By restricting access to explicit materials, African nations aim to protect their youth from these harmful influences.

Countries like India have implemented similar measures with notable success, demonstrating the potential benefits of such policies. India's stringent regulations have reportedly contributed to a decline in p**n consumption, promoting a healthier societal environment. Following this example, Burkina Faso has taken a commendable step by banning po*******hy in any form, setting a precedent for other African nations.

The core objective of these bans is to uplift the moral fabric of society, which has been increasingly threatened by the pervasive nature of explicit content. By eliminating easy access to po*******hy, these countries hope to foster a culture of respect, decency, and healthy interpersonal relationships. This shift is not just about restricting content but about redirecting the population's energy towards more productive and constructive activities.

Moreover, the initiative aims to address the broader societal impact. A society inundated with explicit material often struggles with issues like sexual violence, exploitation, and moral degradation. By imposing these bans, African countries are making a proactive effort to mitigate these problems, ensuring a safer and more ethical environment for all citizens.

The move to ban po*******hy in African countries represents a significant step towards enhancing mental health, safeguarding the younger generation, and reinforcing societal values. By following the examples set by India and Burkina Faso, African nations can create a more morally robust and mentally healthy society.

Sh*to, a popular black burnt pepper sauce, has become a staple accompaniment to Ghanaian dishes like waakye and kenkey. Traditionally prepared in homes, particularly for children heading to boarding school in the 1980s, sh*to was a beloved part of many family recipes. However, in recent years, waakye and kenkey vendors have adopted this sauce, often altering its ingredients in ways that pose health risks.

These street vendors have introduced harmful additives and unhealthy methods in preparing sh*to, causing adverse health effects among consumers. Reports have emerged of people experiencing heart palpitations, chest discomfort, boggy blood vessels, skin tracings, and even high blood pressure after consuming these modified versions of sh*to. The inclusion of excessive amounts of preservatives, artificial flavorings, and potentially unsafe cooking oils is suspected to contribute to these alarming symptoms.

There is an urgent need for stricter food safety regulations and greater awareness among both vendors and consumers to ensure that this beloved sauce does not become a vehicle for health hazards.
