It’s been pouring with rain in Melbourne. I recall Labor MPs saying there was no rain and Dan Andrews on radio saying “dams don’t make it rain”. So the Government refused to build more dams. Now we are coming into summer. ☀️

Does Victoria have enough water?

Have the forests been cleared, to reduce the risk of fires 🔥 (which is completely normal during summer).

Was the electricity grid bolstered, so we don’t have blackouts and brownouts ?

I suspect the answer will be No, No and No.

Most of the politicians from the socialist left who were involved in this, have resigned and gone onto new high paying jobs or “retired” on a taxpayer funded pension. Meanwhile nothing changes and the problem just gets worse.

It’s under-funded emergency services who are left to pick up the pieces.

The Government in the State of Victoria Australia want to build the biggest battery 🔋 in the world. The State is broke, billions in debt, due to the waste of Labors Socialist Left faction - nevertheless they going to blow hundreds of millions on this.

Here’s what we know:

❌ The business case is being kept secret by Labor. The public are not allowed to know.

We are told there are:

❌ 444 Tesla Megapack Batery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

❌ 600MW in output, providing "1.6 gigawatt hours of energy storage".

❌ Apparently its capacity is 1720MWh, but the connection points allow for 1600MWh.

❌ At its peak, it could power 200,000 homes for 4 hours. That’s the public relations spin. My own modelling suggests that would be based on an average of 0.9 kWh/hour for each house, which is quite low.

❌ It’s a BILLION dollar project of which Victoria has a 38% stake - paying $245 million. The rest will be funded by a company called Equis, who says the battery will be completed by the end of 2025.

❌ The Government says the batteries will last “decades”.

❌ The batteries will degrade over time. They diminish with each charge/discharge cycle. So given this Tesla setup uses lithium ion batteries, I’d expect this setup to last about 10-15 years.

Again - what’s the advantage? 🤷🏼‍♂️ Why spend $1 when Victoria is broke. There is no indication that this will reduce your power bill.

The last big battery created by the State Government caught on fire. 🔥 🙄
