Opportunity for younger actors!

Cambrian Players is looking for actors to present the next installment of our Green Room series, a staged reading of “Is My Microphone On?” by Jordan Tannahill.

We are looking for actors, of all genders, between 10-18 years old. The script contains swearing, and discusses inappropriate relationships, sexual activity, and physical violence. However, these subjects are intentionally approached and engaged with in a meaningful way. The script will not be memorized, but actors should be comfortable speaking and emoting onstage. This Green Room performance will be on Saturday January 20, 2024.

This lyric play is helmed by a group of young people who have been born into a burning world (Playwrights Canada Press). By questioning the choices of the generations before them and reckoning with their anxieties and rage, they create a striking portrait of children trying to make sense of the climate destruction they will inherit.

This weekend a local theatre company is inviting the public in for a fun open house! If you’ve ever been curious, go take a peek behind the curtain of Cambrian Players!

Stop by our theatre at 818 Spring Street on Saturday August 27 from 10am to 2pm and visit our Community Open House! This event is open to the public and free of charge. Come visit, get a glimpse of the magic that happens behind the scenes, and explore the building. See items from Cambrian Players’s archive and experience how community theatre developed in Thunder Bay over the last seventy years, and explore what’s next as we evolve into the future. We'll also be announcing the three selected plays which will make up our 73rd Season of "Theatre for the Love of it!"

At interactive booths, you can find out ways to get involved with Cambrian Players onstage as an actor, behind the scenes with our tech crew, or volunteer for a Cambrian Committee and support the work that Cambrian does without ever stepping on stage! Connect with Cambrian Players Improv, learn about sound and light, learn what goes into designing the props, sets and costumes for a play, and more! Check out displays featuring some of Cambrian’s extensive costume, prop, and set collections, and visit the Costume Sale where you can take home a one of a kind costume worn onstage in a Cambrian production.

This Open House gives us a chance to share our passion for theatre with everyone and we hope to engage with new and old friends who want to support this exciting work to bring people together through their shared love of theatre.”

The Best Man's Speech is a light, breezy, and heartfelt comedy about Paul, an emotionally walled off guy with a fear of public speaking who tries to worm out of delivering a best man's speech for his best friend. Local project, great crew, fun set!

We were glad to lend our director to this great community celebration of theatrical arts!

It was a wonderful weekend full of local playwrights, directors, and actors. We would like to thank everyone who came out to support the 10x10 Short Play Festival and we look forward to seeing everyone next year for the 10th Anniversary.

Matt is busy working on our latest creative project, “Sleep”. Thingamajig produced this short script after being approached by Eric. Stay tuned to see it come to life.

Currently doing colour correction on a short film called Sleep. Written and Directed by Eric Arwyn Fox and produced by Thingamajig Film Company. I also did the picture editing for the film as well.

One is seeking 2 voices, (adult male)for some voice over work for a 2nd year thesis film. Looking for a very proper, butler sounding voice, and a booming commanding voice. Another needs two actors that live together to act in a sweet short film about a first date gone wrong. 1 day shoot, March 28. Please send me a photo and contact information and I can pass it along!
