I) RHTQAM Logline
A cinematic, analytical, sociological, celebratory, deconstructive and satirical documentary about the classic 1989 film ROAD HOUSE and how it merits the title of "The Quintessential American Movie"...
II) Teaser #1 Concept
A fan of the original ROAD HOUSE since seeing it on the big screen in May 1989, Creative Director/Filmmaker/Film Critic/Media Professor YoussefVerse had always championed the divisive virtues of a brilliant genre film built upon a sh*tty––yet highly entertaining––script and buoyed by some spirited acting by a cast of highly talented thespians, musicians, stuntpeople and artists.
In developing the upcoming feature-length documentary and corresponding film analysis book about the cultural phenomenon that is the original ROAD HOUSE, the gateway marketing endeavors (beside social media outlets) will include a plethora of motion picture videos such as this first teaser trailer––followed by longer trailers, marketing theme videos, satirical project-adjacent shorts (like faux commercials) and other valuable tools in pitching this documentary/book concept to its logical fruition as a film and publication in their own rights. In other words, the ROAD HOUSE-verse is about to get much bigger!
Regarding Conceptual Teaser #1, YoussefVerse hearkened back to the marketing literature of his own copy in comparing ROAD HOUSE to classics such as GONE WITH THE WIND (1939), etc. Desiring to create a brief, classy teaser without giving away anything was challenging, YoussefVerse set out to create a graphics-heavy piece extolling the virtues of "timeless films" and then adding the '89 ROAD HOUSE to that mix. This is the main impetus of the entire documentary/book project, and it was imperative to make it all seem a real plausibility. Throwing in a prudent scene/dialogue (Sam Elliott's "Wade Garrett" on the phone emphatically stating "I'll see ya. Later.") from the movie proper signifies the tongue-in-cheek approach to the overall narrative. And that faux-Sam Elliott narration (by YoussefVerse himself) is surely the icing on the RH cake!
All told, Conceptual Teaser #1 is really a graphical and visual blueprint for the longer trailer that will be next on the project agenda. Simple, elegant, musical, colorful and indicative of both the ROAD HOUSE brand and The MoonStar Film Odyssey cinematic ethos, this first marketing video is just a taste of great things to come in the ever-expanding ROAD HOUSE cultural universe and the upcoming documentary/film analysis book that will canonize it all in style. So, "be nice" and enjoy it!
