PDP and Fixation on Fake News

The attention of the Office of the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma has been drawn to fake news making the rounds on social media, purporting that Imo State Government paid ₦8m to Fulani herdsmen, who allegedly lost their cows at Ezinihitte Mbaise.

In the said fake news, the criminals also purportedly wrote that the Governor met with the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) at the Government House, Owerri.

Those who generated the obvious fake news also criminally signed off for the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser, Oguwike Nwachuku, in a desperate attempt to legitimise their criminal intent and have the buy-in of the public.

This is not the first, nor will it likely be the last, time agents of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will criminally issue a statement purporting same to have emanated from the Office of the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser. They did when former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari died and, in their warped mentality and hallucination, renamed the Imo State University after Kyari.

Their intention then was to deploy misinformation to discredit the government of Governor Uzodimma and cause disharmony between the government and the good people of Imo State. They failed!

Again, today, May 14, 2020, the same people whose stock in trade is to disseminate false reports on social media to satiate the appetite of their paymasters have been paid to do what they and their sponsors are good at criminality. Again, they have failed!

For the avoidance of doubt, the Government of Imo State under the watch of our able Governor Uzodimma does not know what the PDP-sponsored criminals are talking about as regards the purported payment of ₦8m and meeting.

The Office of the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser, therefore, dissociate itself from the purported press release and purported payment, the imaginary meetings between the Governor and MACBAN, and the gibberish associated with the non-existent meetings.

While the government is very much committed to a society, where constructive criticism helps to bring development, it will continue to have zero tolerance for people who deploy criminality and subjective criticism with the intention of misinforming and misleading the public.

It is a shame that the purveyours of fake news on the current Imo State Government have sold their consciences that one wonders if Mac Zukerberg, the founder of Facebook and also owner of Whatsapp, will not be wondering if they are under spell.

On a day Imo people are reflecting and rejoicing over nearly one billion Naira that has been traced to be in dormant accounts in one bank alone due to the recklessness of the past administrations, a gang of PDP-sponsored social media zealots are busy orchestrating fake news, just to divert attention and cause disharmony. What a shame?

The government of Governor Uzodimma is irrevocably committed to good governance and will not be distracted, not even by the resort to fake news by the opposition and their agents as a blackmail tool.

The public in general and Imo people in particular should, therefore, ignore every fake news meant to misinform them about Imo State Government activities, more so, as Governor Uzodimma is not interested in telling anybody lies. The era of deceit is gone.

We also caution the reading public to be wary of fake news materials they are quick to help the criminal-minded propagandists, blackmailers and enemies of development share on social media as doing so will portray them as accomplices.

24HRS to the scheduled date of STEPPING INTO MAGGIE SHOE Premiere in London and Manchester, the tickets are already sold out. This is incredible!!

However, The Safety and welfare of our fans and viewers is the utmost priority to us. Given the increasing effect of COVID 19, the latest Government guidelines, and the potential impact these could have on our audience and fans, SIMS Movie Premiere scheduled for both London and Manchester this weekend will now be postponed until further notice.

This decision was not taken lightly and whilst it is very disappointing to have to move the date, we believe that it is the right thing to do out of concern for the people and under the circumstances; Health & Safety remains paramount.

All the actors and cast are still in UK. We will be observing the turn of event and we will duly communicate to you any pertinent update on the new schedule for London and Manchester.

On Operation Python Dance which IPOB has been unrepentant in accusing the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, of co-masterminding, he had said these at various fora :

"Our endurance has been stretched beyond Hooke's gauge for elastic limit. The deployment of the Nigerian Army under the guise of Operation Python Dance to the South East was unconstitutional under Section 271 of the 1999 Constitution.
Deployment of the army in the constitution is allowed in circumstances of insurrection, terrorism and external aggression, not in killing of priests or fighting kidnapping. And in those circumstances where they are deployed, leave of the Senate must be sought. This brazen impunity in dealing with matters which concern the South East is provocative".

"Finally Your Excellency (President Buhari), only recently the Nigerian Armed Forces embarked on an Operation Python Dance in the South East. Their confrontation with our children in the self-determination movements left very sad memories. A number of lives were lost. Rules of engagement were wantonly violated and IPOB designated as terrorists. Whilst we in Ohanaeze do not condone any misdemeanor of any of our children, we think the government reaction was an over-kill. As a father, I urge you to invite your children to a discussion table like you are doing in the South South as well as with Boko Haram. I urge you to discipline your soldiers who have violated their rules of engagement. I urge you to bring about , in your tenure, a move for permanent constitutional review that will forever assuage the growing dissatisfaction amongst our youths over the continuous deterioration of the quality of life".

"I rebuked the Federal Government for the way IPOB, an armless group fighting for self-determination, was classified as a terrorist organization whilst Fulani Herdsmen classified by the Global Terrorist Index as the 4th deadliest terrorist organization in the world was treated with kid gloves.
I maintained the same view in my public lectures at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, UNN, Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Anambra State and many other places within and outside Nigeria".

Chief Nwodo had earlier visited the GOC 82 Division of the Nigerian Army to complain about Operation Python Dance and asked him to fish out the soldiers who participated in the heinous crime and punish them appropriately, which the then GOC promised to do but didn't.

In clear conscience, will Chief Nwodo have taken part in Operation Python Dance conspiracy and have the moral courage to openly and unabashedly condemn same even up to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? All his life, Chief Nwodo has never been a hypocrite and cannot start practicing it now. He has challenged IPOB to produce any evidence linking him to the Operation but they have not.

"I challenge Nnamdi to give me one single evidence of my involvement in conspiring Operation Python Dance ".
