Straight Out Jazz A weekly radio program. Looking forward, on the shoulders of giants, heading Straight Out. Always s I went further afield and found my place.
(1)

This program started in 1997 as part of the morning Jazz on WNHU from 6-8:30am. It started off rather straight as I got my bearings on the music and its history. For years I started off with a track from Kind of Blue (really can't miss there). Still Jazz roots and still Coltrane starting it off, but lots of free music of all sorts. Hope you can join in sometime.

Will be spinning some jazz and such on 88.7 WNHU FM 4-6pm today. On the interwebs at www.wnhu.org. Tune in!

A Giant

His career as an influential tenor saxophonist and composer reached across more than half a century, tracking jazz’s complex evolution during that span.

Wow! We will be playing this one a lot.

John Coltrane rarely performed the music from A Love Supreme after its release at the end of 1964 – meaning even the most ardent Coltrane-ologists have been unaware of the existence of these tapes.
