Here are four 12-1/2” blocks destined to be another Scrapper’s Delight quilt from the book Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Jean Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison. I have an overflowing bag of red, purple, orange, and pink strips and I want to use them up. This is my favorite scrap quilt pattern. I think this will be #5 or #6 that I’ve made.

I usually take a jelly roll with me to Alaska when I visit my older daughter. I left a sewing machine there so I could work on projects while I visit, and the MoonstoneJellyRoll quilt was the result. You can see the loop quilting I’m doing on it.

The QuiltingHexieWallhanging was a kit that I got as part of a class on English Paper Piecing at the Garden of Quilts at Thanksgiving Point in Utah in 2021. English Paper Piecing is a technique where small pieces of fabric are wrapped around stiff paper pieces and basted in place. Each of those small units is then sewn together by hand.

JellyRollQuilt is made from a jelly roll. That is the name for pre-cut fabric in the form of about forty 2-1/2” wide strips of fabric. Quilters use jelly rolls for a variety of things. “Jelly Roll Race” quilts became popular about 12 years ago:

What do I do with leftover pieces of fabric from various projects? I run them through my Accuquilt die cutter and turn them into units that can be sewn into more quilts. The charm squares will eventually end up in comforter tops that our church ties and donates to Mennonite Central Committee to be given to people around the world. The tumbler units will find their way into another quilt I make.

This bundle of fabric is what is known as a “fat eighth” bundle. I had four of these in Tim Holtz’s Correspondence fabric line (an older line from about 10 (!) years ago). It has been marinating in my stash since then. Yikes, LOL. I should use up my fabric more quickly.
