Copenhagen’s PHRENELITH emerge from the darkness once again with their third and most unholy full-length offering, ASHEN WOMB. Seven sinister funeral marches, draped in bleak & blackened atmosphere: a lens into the forthcoming end of times.

A droning tone fades in, opening up a slow dirge which eases us into the apocalyptic explosion of death that will follow for the next 40 minutes.

Where guitars anxiously scale the fretboard & weave morose melodies while drums pound and smash with the force of the Chicxulub impactor. Interspersed between the infernal, seismic, blackened stampedes are droning psychedelia & ambient noise interludes, immersing us further into the ever growing darkness. But there are also moments of overwhelming beauty, like on tracks “NEBULAE” and the eponymous “ASHEN WOMB”, where Phrenelith indulge in the repetition of their sinister melodies, layering serpentining guitars atop each other, spinning a web of desolate harmonies around the listener.

With ASHEN WOMB, Phrenelith give us the foretold sound of the apocalypse, but whether it’s a warning or a celebration is yet undecided.

21 lat temu, 12 marca 2001 r. rozpoczęła się jedna z najważniejszych tras koncertowych na ówczesnej metalowej scenie w naszym kraju: Reign Forever World Tour 2001 z udziałem VADER, DECAPITATED oraz TRAUMA. Deathmetalowe tornado przetoczyło się przez jedenaście polskich miast, wzbudzając niesamowite zainteresowanie wśród fanów, co przełożyło się na ogromny sukces tego przedsięwzięcia. Ta trasa była ważna z wielu powodów, a jednym z nich był bez wątpienia fakt, że w jej trakcie zarejestrowaliśmy z ekipa Hertz Studio materiał na koncertowy album TRAUMY pt. "Crash Test: Live". Płyta finalnie trafiła na rynek jesienią 2001 roku i jest świadectwem atmosfery tamtego niesamowitego czasu. Zawsze kiedy słucham tych nagrań, wspomnienia tamtych koncertów wracają niczym bumerang i zawsze wywołują uśmiech na mojej twarzy. Debut full length of the new band by Dopi (MACHETAZO, LEPROPHILIAC, MUTILATED VETERANS, PREMATURE BURIAL, RUINEBELL, ex-BODYBAG, ex-DEADMASK, ex-DISHAMMER...) and experimental musician / free jazz drummer Avelino Saavedra (ex-MOL). 11 songs of extreme grindcore influenced by TERRORIZER, BRUTAL TRUTH, D.R.I., THE ACCÜSED. Mastering was carried out by the one and only Jason Fuller (BLOOD DUSTER) at Goatsound studios in Australia.

DEATHCONTROL was born from the joining of forces of J.M.Dopico and Avelino Saavedra. They are both from the city of La Coruña, in Galicia, Spain and have known each other since the early nineties, the golden age of Hardcore, Crossover, Grindcore, Thrash and Death Metal.

Dopi recorded the guitars over click tracks, sent them to Avelino, who recorded the drums and in turn he sent them back so that the former could incorporate the bass and vocals. The result was six structured songs, with their corresponding lyrics, highly influenced by classic bands such as Terrorizer, Brutal Truth, D.R.I., The Accüsed... and five interludes of pure sick noise with an aftertaste of the craziest and most extreme passages of John Zorn's Naked City or Painkiller.

Guitars, bass and vocals were recorded by Paco Liaño at Treboada studios, drums were recorded by Avelino at Önilewaland studios, where he was also in charge of the mixing. Mastering was carried out by the one and only Jason Fuller (ex-Blood Duster) at Goatsound studios in Australia. On the graphic side, Dopi was in charge of the logo design and layout, while Avelino created the interior illustrations and the cover.

Just found +20 copies of SELFHATE - At The Beginning God Created Fear CD. This was the second SELFMADEGOD release dated back to February 2001! Catalog #: SMG 002.

Originally recorded a few years ago, this CD by Poland's SELF HATE is finally getting the release it deserves thanks to Self Made God Records and MCN Records. SELF HATE play oldschool grindcore reminiscent of the glory days of the genre and bands like E.N.T. and NA**LM DEATH. Their sound is unbridled and raw seemingly always on the edge of spinning out of control. Politically charged lyrics and outspoken denouncement of fascism delivered by dual vocals only adds to the classic feel of SELF HATE. The tidal wave of extreme music out of Poland continues and SELF HATE are riding the crest.

DEATHCONTROL: debut album details; "Pagan But Urban" single unveiled

DEATHCONTROL unveil the first single Pagan But Urban from upcoming debut album The Endless Echo Of His Own Litany set for release on 20 December 2024 via Selfmadegod Records.

Regarding the track Dopi said: The ultimate blend of old school Grindcore with Hardcore Thrash full of acid hatred straight to the jugular. As if Jello Biafra wrote the lyrics for a song decomposed between Terrorizer and The Accüsed.

DEATHCONTROL was born from the joining of forces of J.M.Dopico and Avelino Saavedra. They are both from the city of La Coruña, in Galicia, Spain and have known each other since the early nineties, the golden age of Hardcore, Crossover, Grindcore, Thrash and Death Metal.
In those days Dopi was the drummer for Frustradicción and later for the legendary band Machetazo, while Avelino put his drumsticks at the service of the hardcore band Mol. Then each one went down different paths, although with the common points of both continuing in the most underground scene and rejecting the mainstream.
Dopi remained faithful to the most putrid, distorted and extreme music, forming different projects such as Bodybag, Premature Burial or Leprophiliac, among others, while Avelino, after having played very different styles such as Jazz, Latin Jazz, African music, Rock of all kinds , etc , led to more “experimental” ways of making music, such as free improvisation, free Jazz, collaborations for dance and theater, etc, which are what he is currently focused on.
Both had been talking for a long time about doing something together and from this mix of life experiences DEATHCONTROL emerged, a project conceived from a distance, since they both currently live on opposite ends of Spain. What they were clear about was that they wanted to make music with references to those bygone times, direct, aggressive music, with hardly any post-production, as natural and authentic as possible.
