If we’re honest, Monday is the day that we love the least. We hear the alarm go off, and let out a sigh of another long week ahead of us. We get up, place our feet on the floor, let out another sigh and get ready for a day full of the expected: ordinary, mundane, monotonous, exactly what we did the last week. Yet, there is glory in our ordinary. The Gospel is not just for Sunday’s, but especially for mundane Monday. We are called to embrace the ordinary, the mundane and seemingly insignificant, because that is where the Gospel shines the brightest. We have an invitation from the God of the universe into the ordinary glory. From the stay at home mom, who feels that her work is insignificant, to the Starbucks barista who wonders if making coffee has anything to do with the kingdom— all of it can display the glory of the gospel, if we just live it out. It’s possible. Your ordinary carries overwhelming glory. This is the Gospel According to Monday.
